La Trobe Rural Health Club (LARHC) brings health students from all over La Trobe together. The club is unique in that it doesn’t cater for the needs of individual courses, but rather, all health science courses as a whole; including paramedicine, pharmacy, dentistry, oral health, occupational therapy, health science, health promotion, physiotherapy, nursing, exercise physiology, and speech patholo

gy courses. LARHC provides an avenue for students to discover their potential through academic and social opportunities. LARHC also increases student health awareness and prepares them for future careers in rural & remote practice. LARHC is one the 29 rural health clubs around Australia overseen by the national student’s network. LARHC offers a variety of opportunities for students to network with other likeminded students that are within same scope of study (health), this enables students to develop a greater understanding of other professions and to develop lifelong friendships. LARHC prides itself in this achievement as a multidisciplinary approach is adapted by most health care facilities, making it increasingly important that we understand the roles other health care professions as much as our own. Throughout the course of 2013 we have noticed how active LARHC members are better equipped for working in rural areas and have a greater awareness of future careers opportunities along with knowledge of issues they may potentially face in their future careers; this putting them ahead of other potential job applicants. We encourage you and your friends to join LARHC and get involved today to increase your awareness about rural health and other health care professional’s roles and duties.

LARHC is excited to offer subsidised HLTAID011 Provide First Aid training to La Trobe students!

Join us at the La Trobe University Albury-Wodonga Campus on Thursday 1 October or Thursday 8 October 2026 to gain your nationally recognised first aid qualification - at a discounted price thanks to LARHC.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is a nationally recognised qualification that provides you with the skills and knowledge to respond confidently to a range of medical emergencies and provide first aid until further medical assistance arrives. The course also includes CPR training (HLTAID009).

50 YEARS OF NAIDOC POSTERS CULTURAL EVENT ❤️💛🖤

Last night we hosted our Indigenous cultural awareness event at the Albury Library Museum, followed by a dinner at the Bended Elbow Albury. It was such a great success and very educational. Thankyou to the Albury Museum Library for having us, the exhibit was amazing and awesome to see how the NAIDOC Week posters have evolved over the last 50 years.
