EPIC Vote [1] EPIC for the QUT Guild! EPIC is the only experienced team to deliver on clubs, sport, events, bars, business, support & fair representation.

In only two short years we have turned the Guild from an organisation of broken politics to an organisation of services for all students – that’s EPIC! Authorised by Aenghas Hopkinson-Pearson, EPIC Campaign Manager

Vote for Chris Drayton-Dekker in the QUT Council elections before midday tomorrow to bring Campus Culture back to life.

QUT used to be a shining beacon of campus culture. Under EPIC, we once had the world’s biggest TOGA party, one of the most successful uni bars and clubs were thriving. Student-run clubs and initiatives are the lifeblood of campus culture, and Chris is fighting to ignite them once again.

Chris will push for the removal of the 0% submission policy, STUDENT-RUN campus culture, fairer club funding and better events (with cheap beer!).

Voting closes at midday tomorrow - if you could please take a quick moment to vote for Chris to bring QUT Campus Culture back to where it was. Check your student emails (24 Aug) for a link to vote online.

Authorised by Chris Drayton-Dekker for QUT Council.

QUT GUILD ELECTIONS DEEMED INVALID

After a lengthy period of reviewing the appeals, the election tribunal has deemed several major aspects of the QUT Guild Election invalid, requesting another election to be held in semester 1, 2020.

All executive positions (excluding top three) will be up for re-election.

EPIC is disgusted to hear that those who are now deemed to be invalidly elected may receive casual Guild jobs in the interim. Not only is Reach giving jobs to mates – it flies in the face of the electoral tribunal ruling. No person should receive benefits once their position is deemed invalid and unconstitutional.

The fact that the current, and confirmed elected president was the secretary who drafted the invalid regulations maintains her position is absolutely wrong. She remains void of scrutiny while most of her team are headed back to the polls. Reach's Guild President should resign and submit herself to the same scrutiny that those in her team are now subject to.

In regard to the abilities officer position, while EPIC are disappointed that this role will not exist in 2020, the fact of the matter is that Reach were ultimately responsible for ensuring this position was valid in the first place. Competence is clearly lacking.

Now QUT Students are fronted with the cost of yet another election thanks to Reach’s inability to read their own rules. Can you really trust them to manage the Guild’s $10 million?
..not to mention the money wasted on drafting the
unconstitutional changes in the first place.

💙 STUDENT RIGHTS 💙

EPIC is passionate about making your university experience the best it can be, and will always stand up to the university when their policies and processes negatively affect students.

EPIC is proud to have started the WINGMAN academic advocacy program, Puppies & Pancakes, Student Foodbanks and QUT Guild Tutors. We also delivered standardised submission times, fairer extension policies and free legal and tax support for students.

In 2020, EPIC will not only bring these services back bigger and better than ever, but also:

📚 Abolish library lockouts with 24/7 opening hours
🐶 Bring back Puppies & Pancakes during exam block
✏️ Hold exam support stalls EVERY day of exam block instead of a select few to hand out essential supplies, fruit and treats
📖 Provide hundreds of extra study spots across both campuses
👩‍💻Provide resume & job interview support for students
👩‍⚖️Legal advice and wage support for international students
💰Funding grants for student startups
🎥Compulsory tutorial recordings
📝Re-establishing QUT Guild Tutors to employ students & provide affordable academic support for students... including a FREE tutoring or assignment review session for every student
⛺️Weekly vent-tents so that we can help you stand up to the university against policies and processes that are impacting your student experience

🔵 EPIC CAMPUS CULTURE 🔵

There is so much more to university than just studying and lectures! Here are just some of our plans to give QUT Australia's best campus culture!

🎊 THE WORLD'S LARGEST STUDENT PARTY 🎊
EPIC knows how to throw a party, we literally hold a Guiness World Record for it 🥇 This year, Reach and Together gave it away to UQ, and instead wasted over $50K on a cancelled festival. Let's kick off 2020 with the World's Largest Student Party back where it belongs!

🍻 MAKE THE BOTANIC BAR GREAT AGAIN 🍻
Under EPIC, the Bot Bar was Australia's #1 uni bar. In 2020, we will make it great again with a full food menu including $5 PARMYS, live sports streaming in 4K, renovated event spaces for clubs and dedicated party weeks at the start and end of each semester. See you at the bar for a quick beverage between classes 😉

⚽️ BIGGER, BETTER & CHEAPER SOCIAL SPORT 🏉
EPIC founded QUT Social Sport, and we believe it should not only be the cheapest comp in Brisbane, but it should be the BEST. In 2020, we'll revamp the competition with better organisation and communication, reverse this year's price hikes and introduce Twenty20 cricket and Touch Rugby League!

💃 QUT BALL & INTERNATIONAL DINNER 🕺
The QUT Ball used to be the most anticipated nights of the year, until Reach and Together cancelled it. In 2020, we'll host a QUT Ball unlike any other, the perfect excuse to grab your friends, dress up and party the night away!

💰$200K MORE FUNDING & SAME DAY TRANSFERS 💰
Clubs & Societies are the lifeblood of QUT Campus Culture, and under EPIC the number of clubs on campus rose from 30 to over 160. In 2020, EPIC will return essential services to clubs including FREE photography and the Clubs Conference as well as introducing same day bank transfers, event support and an extra $200,000 of club funding!

EPIC has a proven track record at delivering for students! Our Student Rights team have some EPIC plans for 2020!

Emma Cockburn and Ella O'Brien are your Student Rights candidates for 2020 and they are very KEEN to take up the fight to the university for your student rights! Our plans include:

Over the years EPIC has delivered:
🔹The WINGMAN academic advocacy program helping over 1,500 students per year with grievances against the university.
🔹Grown the number of clubs and societies on campus from 30 to over 160.
🔹Handed out over 12,000 FREE pancakes at our Puppies and Pancakes events each exam block.
🔹Established two student Food Banks for when times get tough.
🔹Advocated for major policy change including standardised submission times and extension policies.
🔹Established QUT Guild Tutors - bringing cheaper, easier tutoring to QUT!
🔹Started a weekly fruit and veggie market-$5 to fill a bag.
🔹Introduced Microwaves on campus.
🔹Introduced 24/7 lockers on campus.
🔹Won over $45,000 in student fee refunds for Creative Industries students.
🔹And much, much, much more!

In 2020, we have MASSIVE plans to go above and beyond for all students by:
🔹 Returning puppies and pancakes to exam periods and providing exam support stalls EVERY day during exams!
🔹 Fight for 30% capped weighting for group assignments.
🔹 Making tutorials more accessible by fighting for compulsory tutorial recordings and answers available for ALL STUDENTS.
🔹 Instituting a ‘no-questions asked’ deferral for EVERY course.
🔹 Banning same day exams and fighting for exams to be more spread out at the end of the semester.
🔹 Abolishing library lockouts during those stressful times!
🔹 Free pizza and redbull to keep you going through the exam period all-nighters.
🔹 Free coffee to wake you up for your 8am lectures.
🔹 Assurance that the Guild will always be run for students, by students. No matter the financial situation, EPIC will never try to sell your Guild to the university!
🔹 NO MORE ELECTIONS DURING EXAMS!

Let Ella and Emma go into fight for your student rights at QUT!

No one does Campus Culture like EPIC! We held the World’s Largest Toga Party, the annual QUT Ball, boosted club numbers from 30 to over 160, provided hundreds and thousands of dollars in club funding, and built Australia’s Number 1 University bar! Now that’s EPIC.

This year we are proud to introduce our Campus Culture candidates, Gabriella Anderson and Bailey Britt

Gabby and Bailey have extensive experience in clubs and societies at QUT and have HUGE plans for 2020. In 2020, EPIC will reinvigorate campus culture by delivering:

💙Food in the Bot Bat, including $5 PARMYS.

- Same day bank transfers
- BBQ Fundraiser opportunities
- Free equipment hire
- Discounted access to all guild services
- Club conference, planning days and coffee catch-ups
💙Increase club funding by $200,000
💙Free event space on campus!
💙 Return of the WORLD’S LARGEST STUDENT PARTY and QUT Ball!
💙 Free coffee to wake you up for your 8am lectures.
💙 Assurance that the Guild will always be run for students, by students. No matter the financial situation, EPIC will never try to sell your Guild to the university!
💙 NO MORE ELECTIONS DURING EXAMS!
💙 We'd love to tell you more about our EPIC promises for the Botanic and Grove Bars. However, they are that good that the Liquor Act 1992 (Qld) prevents us from being able to tell you. GET KEEN.

The EPIC team has so much more to offer and are keen to deliver for 100% of students!

Meet the President Candidate Jack Hill

This year I’m running to be your president of the QUT Guild.

Under EPIC I’m pledging to bring a return of the Guild’s former glory and bring EPIC campus culture back to QUT.

To be honest, I’ve actively avoided student elections and those pesky campaigners throughout my four years at QUT.

This year, however, after seeing a tunnel visioned Guild attempt to pass crooked changes to give more power to the university whilst taking away power from students, I was inspired to get involved. I was absolutely shocked when I read the proposed changes to the Guild’s constitution and frankly stunned when the ‘team’ of students elected to represent us split into three separate parties due to factional politics rearing its ugly head within the Guild. The disappearance of campus life, political infighting and major shortcomings of the student body has encouraged me to run with a team of EPIC students committed to changing the culture that has plagued the Guild throughout 2019.

This year, I am proud to be running with an awesome group of students from wildly different backgrounds of university life. We’re a team that not only knows how to have a good time, but are committed to fighting for student rights to make your time studying the best it can be. Most of all, we leave politics and self-interest at the door and will never sell the Guild to the university.

Under EPIC, the Guild will always be run by the students, for the students, not political campaigners that assert their ideology over others.

Only EPIC has a long history of delivering for all QUT students. We have a proven track record of delivering on our promises. Here’s just a taste of what we’re promising to bring you in 2020!

- Capping group assignment weighting
- Abolishing Library Lock-out Laws
- Allowing for a “no questions asked” deferral for every course.
- Spreading out study periods to avoid same day/bunched up exams.
- Exam Support Stalls every day of exams (not just when it is convenient).
- Food, Live Sports and more Clubs and Society events in the Bars.
- Significant increases in Clubs & Society funding!
- Same day bank transfers for Clubs & Societies
- Bringing back the QUT Ball, a proper Clubs Awards Night and a World Record Breaking Student Party!
- Bringing back Puppies and Pancakes (every exam block)

Online voting opens Monday next week from 11th-15th of November.

Reach have banned parties from discussing our policies on campus (gotta love democracy) BUT feel free to get in touch with me about anything to with the Campaign and what EPIC can do for you.
