Always was. Always will be.
Mabo Day | 3 June 2026

Honouring the life and legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo, whose fight for land rights led to the historic 1992 Mabo decision, recognising the native title rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and overturning terra nullius.

A day to reflect on justice, truth, and the enduring connection to Country. To honour resilience, courage, and a legacy that reshaped Australia forever.

The Student Representative Council stands in full support of the UQ Women's Collective and their upcoming rally for abortion rights and access in Queensland.

Reproductive rights are student rights. Access to safe, affordable, and unrestricted abortion is a fundamental aspect of healthcare and bodily autonomy and any attempt to roll back that access is an attack on the wellbeing of our students and our broader community.

We stand firmly opposed to any efforts that would limit the reproductive freedoms that Queenslanders have fought hard to secure. We encourage all students, staff and community members to show up, make their voices heard, and stand alongside the UQ Women's Collective in defence of these rights.

Date: 2 June 2026
Time: 1 pm
Location: Speakers Corner, Queensland Parliament.

All In for reconciliation 🖤💛❤️

National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) marks two key milestones in Australia’s journey: the 1967 referendum and the Mabo decision, and reminds us that reconciliation is an ongoing commitment.

This year’s theme, "All In", calls on all of us to take action. It’s not a spectator sport; it’s about showing up, listening, and working together to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We all have a role to play in building a more just, inclusive Australia, one grounded in respect, understanding, and strong relationships.

25/05/2026

Today, 26 May, we remember and acknowledge the Stolen Generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children forcibly removed from their families under past government policies. This day recognises the ongoing impact of these injustices.

It’s a time for reflection, respect, and action by acknowledging the past, supporting healing, and committing to a more just and inclusive future.

While the past cannot be undone, we can listen, learn, and stand together in support of healing and reconciliation.

🖤💛❤️ Always was. Always will be.
