Summer had a close call with this big beautiful Red-bellied Black Snake! 😳🐍

This just shows how quickly they can come back up on themselves if they want to get away! Thankfully it didn’t open its mouth and was further away from Summers hand than it looks!

What a spectacular animal! It has since been relocated into a safer and more suitable habitat!

This Eastern Brown Snake was taller than Wooly! 🐍 😍

This snake was hanging a bit too close to someone’s home! We raced over and were stoked to see the health and size of it! relocated it to a beautiful habitat so it could continue to thrive!

We recently did a welfare check on this Python that had been in and out of this homeowners pond for a few days and they were starting to get concerned! 🐍 💦

After getting it out of the pond, checking over its scales, movement and responsiveness, it was confirmed to be totally fine! Summer placed it right back into the water where it curled up and poked its head out to get some air!

A huge part of our job involves doing reptile welfare checks and rescues that we squeeze in between catching snakes as the health of these animals is very important to us, and we appreciate customers who feel the same!

STORY-TIME FROM SIMON:

There was a Common Tree Snake in an air-con unit in a customers lounge room at The Gap. Just before 6:00pm the snake initially came out and did a couple of trips around the room. Just before I got there it had unfortunately gone back into the air-con unit.

I spent a while looking through aircon with my camera, and using a hair drier to see if I could make it move if it was still in there - nothing! so figured it had gone back outside or was sitting in the conduit somewhere.

We temporarily taped up gaps around the aircon so it wouldn’t be able to drop back into the room.

I was still sitting in the car outside the customers house and Heather rang to say they called back and could now hear something in the roof!

I went back in and into the roof, and caught an initial one straight away. They then said they could hear more noise - went back in roof again and ended up with 5 snakes. They were still very active for being close to 8:00pm! 🐍 👏🏼

Checkout these two male Coastal Carpet Pythons FIGHTING over a nearby female! 🐍 🥊

During breeding season, male snakes of the same species will often combat when they can smell the pheromones of a nearby female. They don’t fight to kill, rather they fight to dominate. They won’t often bite or injure each other but it definitely does sometimes happen!

The snake that gives up first is the loser, and the strongest most persistent snake will go and find the female to mate with!
