🌙 Finding a sense of belonging while studying abroad.

Studying in another country is more than earning a qualification – it's about finding a community where you feel welcome, valued and connected.

At our recent Eid al-Adha celebration, around 100 students came together at VU Brisbane to share traditions, strengthen friendships and build new connections across our diverse student community.

Moments like these are an important part of the student experience at VU Brisbane, where we celebrate the cultures, perspectives and experiences that make our community unique.

🌟 From international student to Student Experience Officer 🌟

We're excited to welcome Jashandeep as our new Student Experience Officer.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared:

"Starting my journey as an international student at VU Brisbane was both exciting and challenging. Moving to a new country and adapting to a different academic and cultural environment came with many learning experiences, but throughout this journey, VU Brisbane became a place where I truly felt supported and connected.

During my studies in the Bachelor of Information Technology, I had the opportunity to grow not only academically but also personally and professionally. Being involved as a Student Mentor and Tutor allowed me to support other students through their own journeys, which became one of the most rewarding parts of my experience.

I am incredibly grateful that this journey has now led me to begin a new role as a Student Experience Officer at VU Brisbane. It feels very meaningful to continue contributing to the same community that supported me throughout my student life."

“I feel incredibly grateful to receive the First Year Champion Award. Moving to a new country and starting university was both exciting and challenging, but it has been such a rewarding journey. Over the past year, I’ve had the chance to grow not only academically but also personally, meeting amazing people and learning so much along the way.
Studying Early Childhood Education at VU Brisbane has reminded me why I chose this path in the first place. Being able to support children’s learning and development is something I’m truly passionate about, and this recognition encourages me to keep working hard and continuing to learn.
