Classics and Ancient History Society: The University of Queensland 🏺UQ’s Classics and Ancient History Society 🌳 Check our linktree for our events and website!

Founded in 1949, the Classics and Ancient History Society (CAHS) is one of the oldest student societies at UQ, and the oldest classical studies students' society in Australia. With a long history of entertaining and educating UQ students enrolled, or just interested in, Classical Languages and Ancient History, CAHS is you go to club at UQ for all things ancient history! Joining CAHS is an easy way

to meet other students whose interest and better judgement has compelled them to pursue the study of dead people and really dead languages. It’s a society that allows the patricians to fraternize with the plebs at a variety of social events as well as offering academic support programs to assist in cultivating your Ciceronian wits. We're a welcoming bunch, and really hope you're interested.

Conversations and Curiosities is back for our April meeting!

Come along to Michie (09) room 536 on Thursday 23rd April to join us for our next topic: The Journal of the Trojan War “written” by Dictys of Crete.

The work purports to be a first-hand account of the Trojan War. We will be focussing on the letter and prologue which accompanied this work, the text for which is in our linktree !!

Don’t worry, there’s no assumed knowledge and everyone is welcome!

🏛️🏛️🏛️

We’ll kick off at 5:30pm for chats & a cheeseboard for your snacking pleasure (yum yum)! Then, the session will officially start at 5:45pm with our wonderful host Yvette Hunt.

Whether you know everything or nothing about Ancient History, these sessions are for you. As long as you bring curiosity to learn about the stranger parts of history, you’ll be welcomed with open arms.
