Dr Kylie Agnew-Francis’ research explores the medicinal power of mushrooms and how we can harness their chemistry to treat life-threatening diseases. Her work also explores the biological and chemical diversity of native fungi across Australia, from suburban Brisbane parks and Tasmanian rainforests to remote eucalypt forests in central QLD. Kylie's research works closely with citizen science groups, government, and industry partners to contribute a better understanding of our fungal biodiversity and develop tools to rapidly screen for new molecules to treat disease.

SCMB’s A/Prof Jody Peters, Dr Henry de Malmanche, and Dr Jessical Harrison developed the ISVac™ platform. This vaccine platform demonstrated to prevent mosquito-borne diseases in animals is now closer to clinical development for humans.
