Hi everyone! 👋🏼

We have an exciting temple visit for you this May to Chenrezig Institute! Chenrezig have generously offered to host UQBUDS attendees for a day program, including a tour of the grounds, a vegetarian lunch and a talk and Q&A with the Abbot of the centre. 🙌🏼

Chenrezig Institute is the first Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Australia established in 1974. Located in Sunshine Coast, QLD, bordering the Blackall Ranges, the temple grounds is a peaceful and unique location that houses their grand Gompa (where teachings occur), a vegetarian cafe with food made in-house, and the beautiful Gardens of Enlightenment and Memorial Gardens.🌳☸️

This will be a great opportunity for UQBUDS to visit a temple outside our usual Brisbane area, so don’t miss out! 😎

Spots are currently very limited at 10 attendees, however we may be able to increase this limit depending on interest and drivers helping out. 🙏🏼

Hi everyone!
As we wrap up for the year, it is time we hold our Annual General Meeting to select a new executive team to continue the UQBUDS legacy.
As UQU mandates a minimum number of members attending to be a valid club, we would greatly appreciate your attendance 🙏🏼

Anyone can join regardless of member status after RVSP’ing below - bring along your friends :)

This year we’ll be holding a free pizza dinner 🍕 for all attendees, then we’ll proceed with AGM, starting with a brief recap of what we’ve done this year then select new committee members for 2025 :))

Our semester temple visit is here! 🥳🙏🏼

Where are we headed? Located on 85 acres of serene natural land (adjoining D’Aguilar National Park) and nearby Lake Manchester, UQBUDS are heading to Dhammagiri Forest Hermitage, a Buddhist Monastery in the Theravada Forest Tradition (associated with Ajahn Chah). A must visit for all!

If you’re keen to learn more about Buddhist practices, experience the culture, and/or keen to soak up some nature 🌳🌳, this visit is for you! One unique thing Dhammagiri does is dhamma talks by the monks. You also have opportunities to ask questions - so feel free to bring your curiosities! 🙂

Hi all! Welcome to UQBUDS for any new faces, or welcome back!

We’re super keen to announce that UQ Buds is inviting you to the residence of high practitioner in Tibetan Buddhist Nyigma tradition, Ontrul Rinpoche, to create auspiciousness by creating your own tsa tsas (prayer statues) 📿🪷

Rinpoche would also be conducting a prayer session to give UQBUDS a blessing, the details of which will be finalised on the day 🙏🏼
All materials and transport will be provided, all we ask is that everyone brings a plate of food/drinks to share! 🥗

If you wish, you may also bring some flowers to offer to Rinpoche 💐

Hi there everyone! 👋🏼

We’re super keen to announce that we have partnered with a long-time UQBUDS friend Lynn Kelly (author of her webpage, The Buddha’s Advice to Laypeople) to give you an Intro to the Buddha’s teachings soon! 🙏🏼🤗

She will deliver to UQBUDS an interactive presentation on two main categories of teachings for laypeople to lead a happier life 💁🏻‍♀️
- ethical principles to live by
- How to develop and refine mental activity

If time permits, the Ennobling Eightfold Path will be introduced & a guided meditation will be taught 🧘🏽‍♀️

This is a free event so all are welcome, whether you’re a practicing Buddhist, curious about Buddhism, or interested in Lynn’s work. All questions and curiousities welcome - there will be plenty of time for discussion! 😎
