LSIA is an interdisciplinary research institute focusing on generating and disseminating new knowledge to improve the learning outcomes of children and young people. As a national research institute hosting a team of eminent researchers and international

scholars, we undertake nationally-funded research studies with a range of industry partners. Our research draws on both qualitative and quantit

ative methodologies and includes large-scale, longitudinal studies, meta-analyses and data linkage. We conduct research and development studies within and across these domains, looking to explore the multifaceted challenges children, families, teachers and schools face. At LSIA, our research is vigorous, socially engaged and ethically committed to improving outcomes for children, teachers and the wider community. We also work to foster a rich and dynamic research culture for higher degree research students and post-doctoral researchers affiliated with projects in our areas of research concentration. Our research strongly aligns with and directly takes up the Australian National Priority promoting population health and wellbeing. Our focus is on maximising social and economic participation in society and particularly in relation to key life stages, intergenerational disparities and socio-economic disadvantage.
