I am a Masters student conducting a research study to understand the experience of International Undergraduate Students who were studying in Melbourne at the height of the COVID-19 pandemics.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
International Undergraduate students who were living and studying in Melbourne anytime between March 2020 to November 2021.

DESCRIPTION OF STUDY
The study aim is to give international undergraduate students a voice to anonymously describe their experience of living in Melbourne during the COVID-19 pandemic and to develop recommendations to improve the experiences and wellbeing of future international students.

WHAT'S INVOLVED
Participation involves an online Zoom interview which will take approximately 60 minutes.

Being part of this study is voluntary. If you want to be part of the study we ask that you read the information below carefully and ask us any questions.

What is this study about?

You are invited to participate in a study titled
‘Understanding the onshore international university student experience of COVID-19 in Melbourne Australia, to develop improvements beyond the pandemic: A qualitative pilot study.’

In March 2020, COVID-19 case numbers were dramatically rising worldwide and in response, countries across the globe closed their borders.Universities in Melbourne closed their campuses and moved to remote online learning, and at the same time a series of nationwide lockdowns began which impacted employers and community groups. These restrictions had significant consequences for many in the community, including International Students who were unable to return to their home countries (ABS, 2021).

This study aims to understand the lived experience of undergraduate international students’ living and studying in Melbourne during the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular between the period of March 2020 to November 2021.

By participating in this project, you are contributing to a deeper understanding of the impacts this crisis has had for international students, and how we can create resources that have a sustainable impact for undergraduate students studying in Melbourne as we continue on the path to COVID-normal and beyond.

Researchers at La Trobe University are seeking volunteer research participants to be involved in a study about international undergraduate students based in Melbourne and their experience of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This study aims to explore the unique issues and impacts the crisis has had on international students who stayed living and studying in Melbourne during the pandemic when the international borders were closed. Understanding these impacts, this study aims to develop recommendations for resources designed to improve the experience and wellbeing of undergraduate students based in Melbourne as we continue toward COVID-normal and beyond.

This study aims to understand the lived experience of undergraduate international students’ living and studying in Melbourne during the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular between the period of March 2020 to November 2021.

By participating in this research, you are contributing to a deeper understanding of the impacts this crisis has had for international students, and how we can create resources that have a sustainable impact for undergraduate students studying in Melbourne as we continue on the path to COVID-normal and beyond.
