These β€œladies petitions” confirm that thousands of Sydney women were not only present at the birthday of Australian democracy, but determined to play a role in its future.’

A newly-discovered petition from 1850 provides rare evidence of what might be women's first moment of political activism in Australia.

Is there a growing stigma surrounding full-time motherhood? Julia Kokic explores the issue and the sacrifices of full-time mothers:

"My mum will never be on the front of TIME magazine, but she is also worthy of celebration. As women, we ought to build each other up, not tear each other down. Whether it’s just work or just motherhood or both combined, we all need to support each other’s endeavours. We can’t just be uplifting of one type of woman, but all women. That is the true mark of feminism."
