Dear parents and carers,
The Australian Education Union (AEU) has notified the Education Directorate that its members will participate in further protected industrial action throughout the week commencing 19 October 2026.

Erindale College's scheduled action will take place on Friday 23 October 2026, including a one-hour work stoppage from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.

At Erindale College, we will operate under minimal supervision arrangements during this period. There will be no classes between 9:00 am and 9:30 am. Families should be aware that normal College routines may be affected.

Line 1 classes will commence at 9:30am. Students with a class on this line will be required to attend from this time.

We recognise that these arrangements may affect families and appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain student and staff safety during the industrial action.

Taste, Test & Evaluate at Erindale College.

Our Food Science students recently stepped into the role of sensory evaluators, comparing a commercially produced pasta sauce with a homemade version. Using a hedonic scale, our budding food scientists rated their sensory preferences and explored how we measure consumer acceptability in food products on our supermarket shelves.

Through hands-on investigation, our students put their curiosity into action, developed critical thinking skills and used evidence to evaluate food products, all while having a little fun along the way.

A delicious example of the EC Learner Profile in action: curious, critical thinkers and effective communicators, learning through inquiry, collaboration and real-world food science.

Inspiring Pathways and Future Possibilities.

On behalf of our Health Science and Certificate III Health Servies Assistance students, a huge thank you to Kylie Hodges and Liz Bishop from the University of Canberra.

Kylie and Liz both research and lecture in midwifery, and our students benefitted enormously from the knowledge, experience and insights shared about the realities of working in a profession that empowers women at their most vulnerable and at their most powerful stage of life.

From career pathways to the realities of caring for mothers and babies, our students gained valuable insights into the world of healthcare and the many opportunities ahead.

Experiences like these bring EC’s Learner Profile to life, encouraging our students to be curious, connected and capable learners, ready to explore their futures and make a difference in the lives of others.

Our Erindale College Talented Dance students swapped the studio for the sunshine at the end of Term 3, bringing energy, creativity and plenty of dance magic to the beautiful Floriade.

Performing for the Canberra community was a wonderful opportunity for our dancers to seek challenge, build confidence and share their passion for dance beyond the classroom. Our students certainly made the most of the opportunity while taking time to stop and smell the flowers.

Want to see what they've been working on? Join us for our End of Year Dance Showcase on Wednesday 4 November at 6pm and celebrate a semester of creativity, hard work and incredible performances.

While others were enjoying their recent well-earned school break, Sandra, J and Kodie were busy taking the next step towards their future careers, completing practical placement at North Canberra Hospital and UC Hospital.

As part of their Certificate III in Health Services, these Year 12 students are developing independence, reflecting on their learning and building the skills required to provide quality care in a healthcare setting.

With 12 students from Erindale College approaching the completion of their training as Assistants in Nursing (AINs), we are proud to see our students working towards careers that make a genuine difference in people's lives.

Congratulations to Chloe Miller on being selected for the Canberra Heat Women’s team, competing in the Australian Volleyball Super League.

Adding to this fantastic achievement, Chloe recently helped the ACT U18 Women’s team secure a bronze medal at the Mahindra Youth Volleyball Championships in Perth.

Two outstanding achievements that reflect Chloe’s talent, dedication and hard work. We are proud to see her taking her volleyball journey to the next level.

Congratulations to Erindale students Taylor and Mia, who recently represented NSW at the Interstate State of Origin Oztag Series on the Gold Coast.

Taylor was part of the NSW Under 17 Girls team that produced an outstanding series against Queensland, finishing with three wins and a draw.

Mia represented the NSW Under 20 Women’s team, helping them secure a 4–0 clean sweep over Queensland. Her performances were recognised with an individual honour as she was named MVP of the Under 20 Women’s series.

Representing your state and competing at this level is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the dedication and hard work both girls have put into their sport.

Throughout Terms 2 and 3, our students have been developing practical skills, building friendships and strengthening their connections with the wider community.

Whether completing barista and makeup courses, learning through Menslink and Fearless Women sessions, collaborating with Bunnings and local organisations, organising a table tennis competition or supporting our Wear It Purple Day BBQ, our students have embraced a fantastic range of experiences.

Every opportunity is a chance to build confidence, discover new interests, develop independence and make a positive contribution.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Youth Workers, Junior and Jordan, alongside teachers Emmy and James, for helping make these opportunities happen.

Bella Armstrong has enjoyed a phenomenal season on the snow, proving just how far dedication, persistence and a commitment to improvement can take you.

From training sessions to competition day, Bella has continued to seek challenge, remain determined and reflect on her learning as she works to become a better athlete.

And she isn't finished yet.

Bella is heading to Japan early next year to work with her Japanese coach, where she will look to clean up her new tricks and progress to yet another level.

Congratulations Bella. An outstanding season and a fantastic example of where dedication and a growth mindset can lead.
