Next week marks National Reconciliation Week, a time to learn about Indigenous knowledge-sharing and engage with Culture and Country.

Students are invited to attend two very special workshops next Thursday 28 May:

💫 10am: Explore Aboriginal knowledge systems through storytelling, Country, and navigation using traditional oral maps.

🌿2pm: Learn how traditional Aboriginal artefacts were crafted from natural materials and used for hunting, carrying resources, ceremony, and daily life.

This April and May, Monash Sport are collecting your old kicks to be recycled into gym flooring, playground surfaces and more!

How to help:

If your room is hitting max capacity and your wallet is looking a bit thin, it’s time to head to SURLY. It’s the student recreational library and the ultimate sustainability hack. ♻️

Why hit the shops when you can borrow for free? Choosing to borrow instead of buy is a massive win for the planet (and your bank account).

What you’ll find inside:

Don’t ghost your Easter egg wrappers this weekend. 🚫

Aluminium is a recycling MVP because it can be recycled infinitely... But only if it’s large enough to be sorted by a recycling machine!

So once you’ve finished your chocolate haul, scrunch your egg foil into the size of a tennis ball. Then place your wrapping into the yellow recycling bin.

An easy win for the planet this long weekend. ✅♻️

The next time you visit Jock Marshall Reserve at Clayton Campus, you may spot a couple of newcomers. 🐐🐐 Friends of the JMR need your help to name the two new goats that will be busy helping to remove weeds on site.

These goats are natural browsers, which means they love to eat invasive grasses and weeds, helping native plants to grow.

🌱 Haven't heard of Jock Marshall Reserve? JMR is a three hectare ecological sanctuary and environmental research facility which is home to a range of native flora. The reserve has been protected by Monash University since 1961 for research and teaching.
