Are you interested in capturing the very human experiences of medicine through creative expression?

We are excited to announce that we are launching our inaugural zine and are looking for submissions from you 🥳🎉

Phasia is Australia’s first medical student creative journal. Our vision is to further the field of medical humanities by exploring the web of emotions of healthcare providers, patients and caregivers 🤝🥰

We will be publishing our inaugural zine in June and are opening our submissions for you to showcase your work 💫

We accept submissions including works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, photography/visual art, videography and audio. Please see our website below for more details on the submission guides for each category.

We are approaching the end of the year and we have had a busy couple of months preparing year 2 and year 3 students for their exams. We've broken a record and organised not 1, but 4 mock exams !!

Thirdly....

🧠 Psychiatry OSCE Night (Sponsored by PIF)
What an incredible Psychiatry OSCE Night hosted by FMSSNT in collaboration with the Psychiatry Interest Forum (PIF) and proudly supported by NT Health psychiatrists and registrars! 💬

We ran 6 groups, 2 online for our remote students and 4 groups in person in Darwin. Psychiatrists Dr Tamoor Mirza and Dr Sarah Dorrington provided useful tips for sitting the Psychiatry OSCE station, something students had advised they wanted more practice with.

Students had the chance to sharpen their psych history-taking skills, explore real-life management plans, and connect directly with doctors passionate about mental health care. 💜
A big shoutout to PIF for sponsoring this night — students loved the handouts, resources, and career advice about psychiatry training. Our examiners and SPs enjoyed their appreciation gifts, and everyone loved the delicious meal from a local Chinese restaurant 🥢🍚
Events like this remind us how meaningful collaboration between students, doctors, and sponsors can be in shaping the next generation of compassionate clinicians.

We are approaching the end of the year and we have had a busy couple of months preparing year 2 and year 3 students for their exams. We've broken a record and organised not 1, but 4 mock exams !!

🌟 Mock CSCA for Year 2 Medical Students
Our Mock CSCA event for Year 2 students was another amazing day of learning and growth! 🌿

FMSSNT started running the mock CSCA exam last year and it has proven to be so beneficial!

Students appreciated the chance to experience a real exam environment and receive constructive feedback from our generous examiners and SPs.
We’re thrilled to hear how much confidence and insight everyone gained from the session. Thank you to our examiners and SPs for sharing your expertise — and we hope you enjoyed your Indigenous gifts and Banh Mi lunch 🥖✨
Every smile and thank-you reminds us why we run these events — helping each other grow stronger together as a medical community :)

Firstly...

2x Mock OSCE's for Year 3 medical students in both Darwin and Alice Springs!

With the biggest cohort to date for OSCE's for the NTMP, our Darwin mock exam had double the numbers and took place across both our Casuarina and RDH campuses !
Students walked away feeling more confident and prepared for their upcoming final exams, thanks to the valuable feedback and realistic practice.
A huge thank you to our dedicated examiners and standardised patients for their time and guidance — your efforts truly make a difference! 💙 We hope you enjoyed the local Indigenous art and NT-made chocolates as a small token of our appreciation.
And of course, nothing brings people together like pizza and smiles 🍕😄
Thank you to everyone who made this event possible — we’re so proud to support our peers in becoming capable, compassionate future doctors.
