Great to see AWN South Australian State Manager and Marcus Oldham graduate Tom Simmons (FM22) continuing to make his mark in the Australian wool industry.

Tom recently reflected on his experience in the Young Wool Professionals Development Program, highlighting the importance of collaboration, innovation, traceability and understanding the wool supply chain from end to end.

Tom’s journey into the wool industry began during his time at Marcus Oldham College, where practical industry exposure on a Merino property near Hamilton helped spark his passion for wool and sheep production.

It’s fantastic to see graduates building careers across the broader agricultural sector and helping shape the future of Australian wool. We look forward to following what’s next in Tom’s career.

It’s been a big, exciting and rewarding week so far for participants in the first of the 2026 Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Programs (MORLP), with two days still to go.

Over the past few days, MORLP participants from across Australian agriculture and agribusiness have been challenged to step outside their comfort zones, build new connections and further develop their leadership and communication skills.

We’ve loved seeing the conversations, collaboration and energy throughout the program so far and look forward to everything still to come over the final two days of the program.

The first of our 2026 Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program programs got underway last night, bringing together 36 participants from across Australian agriculture and agribusiness.

Over the week, participants from a diverse range of agricultural and agribusiness sectors, including livestock grazing for meat and fibre, broadacre summer and winter cropping, dairy, cotton, horticulture, apiary and agribusiness support businesses, will take part in the leadership development program.

The program is designed to help participants better understand their own leadership styles, communicate more effectively with peers and confidently represent their industry or community in decision making environments.

We look forward to sharing more photos and updates from the program over the coming days.

Sam (AG18) and Jack (AG20) McCosker are continuing a proud family farming legacy on Queensland’s Western Downs, managing more than 5,000 hectares of cropping country alongside a growing feedlot and irrigation operation.

The brothers recently featured in Grain Growers Limited ‘Paddock Perspective’, sharing insights into succession, innovation, irrigation, and the future of broadacre farming.

“We both genuinely enjoy what we are doing.”

It’s great to see Marcus Oldham graduates applying practical business thinking and embracing new technology as they help shape the future of Australian agriculture.

Well done and thank you to Jess Capon, who once again rolled up her sleeves and baked up a storm for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea this week.

Her efforts raised an incredible $950 for the Cancer Council, building on last year’s contribution and making an even bigger impact.

A fantastic effort for a great cause.
