Ever wondered about the science behind our local waterways, marine life and conservation efforts?

As part of National Science Week, you're invited to join us for Science in the Brewery: Decoding Our Blue Backyard at Ward's Brewery on Thursday 27 August.

This free community event brings together three fascinating local experts:

• Professor Emma Jackson (CQUniversity)
• Thomas Hayes (Gladstone Area Water Board)
• Anyssa Mason (Team Turtle CQ)

They'll share stories and insights from the front line of marine research, fisheries science and turtle conservation before we put your knowledge to the test in a fun science-themed trivia challenge.

Enjoy complimentary finger food, STEM-themed prizes, good company, and the opportunity to purchase drinks from the bar, including Ward's award-winning craft beers. Their Pale Ale recently claimed the Champion International-Style Pale Ale title at the Australian International Beer Awards.

Whether you're a science enthusiast, trivia lover, student, professional, or simply curious about the incredible science happening in our own backyard, we'd love to see you there.
While attendance is free, registrations are strongly encouraged to help us plan catering and ensure everyone enjoys the evening.

I’ve really enjoyed my first week at the Gladstone Visitor Information Centre, chatting with both locals and visitors to the Gladstone Region and sharing conversations about place, creativity and my Seagrass Meadows collection inspired by our local coastline. It’s been a lovely way to connect through art and stories. I’ll be here again on Saturday and throughout next week, so if you’re nearby, pop down and say hello.

Proudly supported by CQU Gladstone CMERC and G.A.P.D.L and by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Gladstone Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

🌟 It’s been a great time at our Gladstone Campus recently!

We were pleased to welcome UniLife on campus, we had a number of stalls that set up, that assist with our student's wellbeing - thank you all for sparing your time. The event even included a wonderful meditation session after lunch (the time got away from us, and we forgot to take some photos, we're sorry!!).

Amongst the Easter festivities, we have also enjoyed an Egg-stra Sweet Morning Tea, there was so much chocolate ... YUM! A special shout out and well-done to our Mindwaves Manager, Anna, who very excitingly won our "How many eggs in the jar?" challenge! There were 146 eggs and Anna guessed a very close 142!

Lastly, to bring some after‑hours fun with our Campus Life Committee, we held our first Student / Staff event for the year, Neon Strikes 🎳✨, where we all came together to play a couple games of bowling! The vibes were high, a few funky outfits that aligned with our 80s theme for the night, and of course, some friendly competition amongst all!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make these events a success - we look forward to sharing more activities with our campus community soon.
