Our research on the Lismore floods contains key lessons for how young people can be supported after Cyclone Alfred and other disasters.

In the aftermath of Cyclone Alfred, residents of South-East Queensland and Northern NSW continue to trade through loss of power, flooding and upheaval.

Among them, are researchers from Southern Cross University’s Sustainability, Environment and the Arts in Education Research Centre, who have their own lived experience of climate-related disasters, along with expert insight about how kids experience these events and what they need to recover.

Amy Cutter-Mackenzie-Knowles, Alexandra Lasczik, Jeanti St Clair, Liberty Pascua-de Rivera, and Dr. Simone Blom PhD have written a timely article for The Conversation Australia + NZ

Turns out our kids need support, training, empowerment and … hugs.
