The Gender Equity in Medicine (GEM) team is excited to bring you the ‘Ready for the Wards’ seminar - your unofficial survival guide to clinical placements and intern year.

Introducing Dr Ryan Churchill, an Emergency Medicine Senior House Officer at GCUH.

A Griffith MD graduate (2023) and Griffith University Lecturer, Dr Churchill was named Gold Coast Health Intern of the Year (2024) and nominated for Best Junior Doctor (2025).

Dr Churchill’s medical interests include sports and expedition medicine. Outside medicine, he enjoys photography, travelling, hiking and mountaineering!

🩺 Meet the speakers for GEM’s ‘Ready for the Wards’ seminar tomorrow evening! 🩺

Introducing Dr Hafsa Masood, a Haematology Advanced Trainee at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, completing dual training in clinical and laboratory haematology.

As a long-standing Griffith educator, Dr Masood teaches clinical and bedside medicine and works as an academic lecturer in Clinical Education and Medicine at Griffith University. Outside medicine, she loves reading and craft!

Hey I’m Anthea! I’m from the Northern Rivers, graduated medicine at the UNSW Coffs Harbour Rural Clinical School and is undertaking an internship at Tweed Valley Hospital this year. I’m keen to chat about preparing for intern life, see you soon!!
