Many educators, especially those new to the care industry, are not fully aware of the dangers associated with rest and sleeping. Under childcare legislation, it is essential that Approved Providers, Directors and Managers ensure that all care personnel have comprehensive training in how to promote safe rest and sleep for the children in their care.
Join Dr Mary Anne Hall for this important Live presentation where she will discuss strategies that you can implement in your service to provide a safe sleep environment for children.
This webinar will discuss:
โ What steps Approved Providers, Nominated Supervisors and Family Day Care Coordinators must take to ensure that the needs for sleep and rest of children in the service are met.
โ Strategies for setting up a safe space for sleep
โ Supervision techniques to ensure baby is safe during sleep
โ Managing Hidden Dangers such as jewellery, toys and comforters
โ Communicating with families about difficult sleep requests
Following the Webinar, you will receive a certificate of attendance for your records.
This Webinar is recommended for all those responsible for the daily care and supervision of children, including: Approved Providers, Centre Directors; Family Daycare Coordinators; OSHC Coordinators; Group Leaders; Educators, and Caregivers.
The importance of actively supervising children during sleep and rest is reflected in Quality Area 2 of the National Quality Standard (NQS), in particular:
โ Element 2.1.1 Wellbeing and comfort: Each childโs wellbeing and comfort is provided for, including appropriate opportunities to meet each childโs need for sleep, rest and relaxation.
โ Element 2.2.1 Supervision: At all times, reasonable precautions and adequate supervision ensure children are protected from harm and hazard
โ Element 2.2.3 Child protection: Management, educators and staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities to identify and respond to every child at risk of abuse or neglect.
