Learning Crop Management in the Field. Our Certificate IV in Agriculture (AHC40122) students enjoyed connecting classroom learning with real-world agricultural practice during a valuable site visit to

Agronomist Jonathan Town shared practical insights into crop establishment and management.
One simple takeaway?
A useful rule of thumb for sowing depth is approximately 2โ€“2.5 times the width of the seed.

The visit gave students a valuable insight into the role of an agronomist and how industry knowledge, technology and practical observation are used to support growers.

Students had the opportunity to see how an agronomist assesses crops and makes practical management decisions in the field. They also observed an oat crop in the field, assessing its growth stage and overall condition. And discussed how soil, water, nutrition, weather and crop observations all contribute to informed crop management decisions.

A big thank you to Jonathan and the team at Notman Pasture Seeds for sharing their knowledge.
