Alex enrolled in a business degree to build economic security. He ended up on a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos. When Alexander Cheng started his Bachelor of Business at University of Technology Sydney, he was looking for tools to create financial mobility for himself. What he found was something bigger, a space to test ideas, explore social entrepreneurship and start asking what business could actually do in the world.
During his time at UTS, Alex launched the UTS Enactus chapter, joined the UTS Hatchery program and travelled to Norway with the UTS Case Team.
Since graduating, he's led Australia's largest professional LGBTQ+ mentoring program, co-founded Careers in Colour, a platform supporting culturally and linguistically diverse professionals in building more inclusive workplaces and served as a Board Observer at the Sydney Theatre Company.
Now, he's been selected as one of just 150 Schwarzman Scholars from nearly 6,000 applicants worldwide, earning a fully funded place in the Master of Global Affairs at Tsinghua University.
"It's business, but it's also culture, it's technology, it's creativity, it's design, it's all those things that come together to play a part in building the world you want to see." That's the kind of business education we believe in at UTS.
