Come hear from the experts in the Central Science Laboratory! These professionals maintain essential equipment that is used by chemists, biologists, geologists, and many more. In this wide range of disciplines use, there is a wide range of applications to support like chemical synthesis, environmental metals analysis, proteomics, and exploring materials on the nanometre scale!

The tour will consist moving between the countless labs that make up CSL, with a 10-15 minute chat with the expert in each room about each unique instrument. Bring questions like: “Could you analyse [insert random object]?” or “What’s the weirdest thing you’ve been asked to analyse?”

FRIDAY OCT 2nd, 6 pm for a 6:30 start, Chemistry Tea Room
But don’t worry, we’re writing the questions 😉 So expect anything and everything from celebrity drama, to childhood nostalgia, to making fun of the staff hehe (and of course, a chemistry round). 🤩🧪
Platters will be provided, and BYO snacks are welcome.😋
Drinks available for purchase, with one complimentary drink with your ticket!🍻🥂
Tickets are $10 for students ($20 for non-students), with door sales only (cash and card available).🎟️

Hi TUCCers! After its success last year, we are bringing back our site tour of the Forensics Science Service Tasmania (FSST). This is an opportunity for students to see an industry laboratory and learn how forensic scientists use chemistry to solve crimes!

Carpooling is available at 3pm from the chemistry building foyer (Sandy Bay).

Only 12 spots available so get in quick!

NOTE: Due to the nature of the tour, there will be discussions of topics which attendees may find distressing (crime, blood, violence). Attendee discretion is advised.
