Paid Research Study Participation Opportunity

Join this hearing study by NAL to get paid and contribute to research!

NAL is looking for normal hearing adults between 18-40 years old to complete a spot the difference task to help investigate how our brain react during conversation.

The study involves:
* Hearing screening
* Measuring brain activity during conversation
* $20/hr compensation
* Free parking

End of Sem 1 Game Day

To celebrate finishing exams and Semester 1, we‘ll be hosting a Board Games & Bingo Day on Tuesday, 23rd June in the 1.602 Seminar Room, Hearing Hub from 12pm-3pm.

Come along to relax, catchup with everyone, and play a variety of board games. We will be hosting another round of bingo with chances to win gift card prizes and will be providing snacks for the event!

Let’s Talk Rural Audiology Online Webinar

Join us on 8th of May for a special audiology talk featuring guest speaker Adam Johnson of Hearing Australia Dubbo. He will be sharing what it’s like to have a career in rural audiology, practical tips and why rural healthcare matters. There will also be a chance to ask your own questions.

This will be a great way to clarify our future as audiologists, especially considering the high demand and support needed in rural areas.

‼️Free Community Event for Audiology Students - Rediscovering Music Sydney

Canberra Symphony Orchestra (CSO) presents Rediscovering Music in Sydney supporting people with hearing loss to connect meaningfully with music, gain understanding and build community.

This half day program will feature performances from CSO Choirmaster Tobias Cole and pianist Linus Lee, facilitated by bassoonist Kristen Sutcliffe. There will also be lectures on sound, music, and hearing from Professor David Ryugo and Dr. Chi Yhun Lo.

Today is the time for us to recognise and celebrate Australian Sign Language (Auslan), the rich culture of our Deaf community, and the importance of accessible communication for all.

Want to know more about paediatrics and hear from a professional? We got you! MUASS proudly introduces - Kids Hearing guest lecture presented by Melisha Sirisena.

Melisha received her training at Sydney Children’s Hospital and has 15+ years of local and international experience in paediatric diagnostic audiology. She is also the founder of Kids Hearing School Screening Program. Topics including raising awareness, communication strategies and informational counselling will be discussed. Attendees will also learn more about the Kids Hearing Program.

Time: 28th April 12:30pm-1:30pm
Location: 16UA 1602 seminar room (the normal lecture room)

Costs: it’s a free event!

Both 1st and 2nd year students are welcomed to attend and light refreshments will be provided!

We’ll be hosting a MUASS Meet & Greet with Year 1 & Year 2 students to celebrate this year’s World Hearing Day
There’ll be FREE pizza 🍕 and a Bingo Night with prizes up to $50 to be won 🤑 — so don’t miss out!
