Our students recently took their English learning beyond the classroom with an excursion to South Melbourne Market and St Kilda, experiencing some of Melbourne’s favourite food, culture and seaside destinations! 🇦🇺✨

🥟 At South Melbourne Market, which first opened in 1867, students explored the bustling stalls and had the chance to try the market’s famous South Melbourne Market Dim Sims, a local favourite enjoyed by generations of Melburnians. It was a great opportunity to discover a piece of Melbourne’s history and food culture while practising English in a real-world setting. 💬

🌊 The group then headed to St Kilda, exploring the Esplanade and St Kilda Pier while taking in the relaxing seaside atmosphere and stunning views across Port Phillip Bay. From discovering a Melbourne food icon to enjoying the coast, it was another memorable way for students to practise their English while experiencing more of what Melbourne has to offer. 🌅❤️

🌿 Our students recently took their English learning beyond the classroom with an excursion to the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, exploring one of the city’s most beautiful green spaces while practising their English in a real-world environment. 🇦🇺✨

🌳 During the excursion, students explored the gardens and discovered a huge variety of plants from Australia and around the world. They also learnt more about the importance of plants, conservation and the natural environment while picking up new English vocabulary along the way. 🌱

📚 Excursions like this give our students the opportunity to practise English outside the classroom while discovering more of what Melbourne has to offer. From learning new vocabulary to spending time together and exploring nature, it was a relaxing and enjoyable way to experience another side of the city. 💬❤️

Did you know that in Victoria, the Friday before the AFL Grand Final is a public holiday? 🏆 It gives Victorians a long weekend to enjoy the celebrations leading up to one of Australia’s biggest sporting events!

📢 Please note: City Language Centre will be closed on the AFL Grand Final Friday public holiday (25th of September). Classes will resume as usual on Monday, 28th of September, after the public holiday.

The AFL Grand Final is a huge part of Melbourne culture, with people wearing their team colours, watching the game with friends and family, and joining celebrations across the city. 🇦🇺✨ If you’re new to Australia, it’s a great opportunity to experience the excitement, learn more about Aussie culture and maybe even choose a team to support! 🥳🏉

💼 Get ready for work – Access free employment support including help with resumes, cover letters, interviews and finding work in Australia. The Work Ready Program also offers employment consultations from Monday to Friday, 1:00pm – 4:15pm.

📚 Join free workshops and events – Study Melbourne regularly hosts workshops, networking events, social activities and practical sessions covering topics such as careers, employment and life in Australia.

💻 Find a place to study – Need somewhere outside of class to practise English, complete your homework or work on an assignment? The Hub offers free study spaces and Wi-Fi, plus complimentary tea, coffee and snacks. ☕️

🤝 Get support when you need it – Students can also access free and confidential support for issues involving accommodation, employment, finances, wellbeing, legal matters and education.
