Take a look inside our new home!

JCB Architects led the design, creating an interior that honours Murrup Barak’s cultural values, aspirations, and ways of being.

Featuring breathtaking ceiling artworks by Gunditjmara, Yorta Yorta, and Wemba Wemba artist Tommy Day. Inspired by possum skin cloaks, they carry powerful symbols of connection, identity, knowledge-sharing, and cultural continuity.

The Murrup Barak community of students and staff are proud to call this beautiful new space home!

All students and staff are invited to join us on Thursday 29 February at 11am–12.15pm for Wominjeka in the Amphitheatre.

Wominjeka, Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung for welcome or ‘come, with purpose’, is a key event in the University’s calendar that signifies the start of the academic year. Local Wurundjeri Elders will welcome new and returning students and staff back to campus with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony.

Wominjeka is also an opportunity for us to celebrate shared spaces on our campuses. These gathering places allow us to share experiences and reflect on the unique contribution each of us makes to the University’s representation of cultures, traditions, and ways of being and experiencing the world.

As you return to campus, we ask you to please give thought to ‘come, with purpose’ – an important consideration as we work and study on the lands of its Traditional Custodians.
