The UMSU Environment Department exists because climate change and environment degradation are concerning realities which students can play an important a role in addressing. From making meaningful change in an existing group or campaign or making your own, to supporting action on climate change at a national level to initiating and advocating for increased campus sustainability, there are so many opportunities to contribute to improved environmental outcomes here at Melbourne University! The Environment Department supports the UMSU Community Garden and the Bike Co-op. We also seek to support students to participate in environmental programs outside of the university or instigate new projects.

Thankyou all for coming to our Sustainability Festival events!! We were so busy that not many photos were taken but we’ll see you again even bigger and better next year.
We have to extend the biggest thanks to SMART Consumers unimelbfashion Melbourne University Community Garden Campus Canteen Farrago Magazine our incredible UMSU staff and many others for helping to pull together this amazing week, we couldn’t do this without our clubs, our staff and our supporting departments/stakeholders.

UMSU Enviro was at the nation wide high school walkout against Pauline Hanson & One Nation Yesterday ❤️💥 Thousands of high schoolers across the country walked out of their classes and got onto the streets to protest the surging far right threat in this country. It’s so important that we resist the normalisation & entrenchment of One Nation’s far-right, fascistic politics.

We also have our beautiful 𝙶𝚎𝚖𝚜𝚋𝚢𝚏𝚒𝚏𝚒♡ back for both days so make sure to get in early.
Expect to see something a little different this time 👀👀 we have total of 15 events planned across all of the Week 8 UMSU Enviro Sustainability Festival, with the schedule to be released soon.

🌍 GLOBE TO GARDEN DROP🌏

Welcoming you to the event marking the start of UMSU Enviro’s Sustainability Festival! (Details dropping soon for Sustainability Fest 👀👀)

We are so proud to have UMSU Enviro, UMSU Burnley, the African Health and Wellbeing society, PEN, the Burnley postgrads, the GSA and the University of Melbourne team supporting Globe to Garden. This one’s gonna be big!

Tickets are free and live now, add on a $5 bus pass to get access to the shuttle bus, running between Parkville and Burnley campuses! 🎟 🎟 🎟 🎟

Come spend as much of the arvo as you’d like at Burnley celebrating multicultural student life and our beautiful botanical campus! Enjoy a free West African lunch from Adonai, an African drumming circle, campus and rooftop garden tours, a club expo, raffles, prizes, sustainability and gardening workshops, DJ’s, free booze, free dinner, and a social mixer!

This film is one that so clearly shows us what the settler colonial state has done to Country and its ongoing exponential harm against Mob.
Please continue to donate and buy from Indigenous owned businesses and charities.
Wittenoom is this country’s Chernobyl, it is the most contaminated land in the southern hemisphere.
This land was destroyed by the likes of gina reinharts company hancock prospecting - something they’ve never even attempted to fix.
