We are located on the land of the Wurundjeri people. This page is for anyone interested in our faculty and is maintained by Monash staff. The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University engages in world-class research and has a long history as a leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate education. The faculty's recently redeveloped curriculum is purpose designed for the study of pharmacy and pharmaceutical science and taught by discipline experts. Education
The educational profile of the faculty comprises two undergraduate programs, four postgraduate coursework and two higher degrees by research courses. Over 1800 students are enrolled in these programs. Leading the way in education innovation, the faculty's driving force behind introducing innovative technologies is student learning outcomes and over 90% of the faculty's students complete their respective courses. The faculty considers access to high postgraduate courses as crucial. It is a founding member of the National Alliance for Pharmacy Education which aims to support the on-going advancement of the pharmacy profession through the provision of such courses by leveraging resources, experience and expertise from its university members. The key research initiatives within the faculty, engaging more than 400 research staff and postgraduate students, are the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science Education Research. Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is the largest, best equipped and most experienced group of pharmaceutical scientists in Australia and the Centre of Medicine Use and Safety is working to develop, implement and evaluate new, better models and systems of health care practice. The faculty, which incorporates the Victorian College of Pharmacy, is located at Monash University's Parkville campus, on the land of the Wurundjeri people. The campus is 3km north of Melbourne's city centre and is part of the ‘Parkville strip' - Australia's premier health and biomedical precinct.

Snippets from yesterday at Terrywhite Chemmart Footscray! Health Minister Ingrid Stitt announced that menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) will join the Victorian Government’s Chemist Care Now Community Pharmacist Program.

Course Director Associate Professor Steven Walker, and current students George and Billy Tambassis, also attended the event to speak on the curriculum, share their student experiences and perspectives. As the pharmacy profession’s scope expands, our graduates are perfectly positioned to meet growing demand for highly skilled, confident prescribing pharmacists.

Monash’s Graduate Certificate of Pharmacist Prescribing was designed to facilitate the Chemist Care Now Community Pharmacist Program to ensure our graduates are practice-ready in 22 common acute, chronic and preventative health conditions. We’re excited that our first cohort of over 120 pharmacists will graduate from the program this year!

Who would’ve thought? Three years later, if their 2023 selves could meet them today, they might be surprised by what they’d find.

Three years ago, these six graduates were among hundreds of students celebrating the completion of their studies. Today, three Pharmacy and three Pharmaceutical Science graduates are building careers across healthcare, research and industry. While their journeys are uniquely their own, they offer a snapshot of the many paths taken by the graduates from our Faculty.

Alec | ANZCAP Cardiology Registrar Pharmacist Candidate, Royal Melbourne Hospital

Three years after graduation, Alec is building a career in cardiology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, supporting patients with heart attacks, arrhythmias and acute heart failure. Alongside clinical practice, he is leading research into the integration of pharmacists within the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic, contributing to new models of specialised patient care.

Olivia | Aged Care On-site Pharmacist, Bupa Aged Care

Since graduating, Olivia has built a career focused on person centred care in the aged care sector. As an on-site pharmacist, she conducts medication reviews and works closely with residents, families and healthcare teams to support quality use of medicines.
Her role also includes staff education, medication audits and multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance resident wellbeing.

Verity | Neurology Pharmacist Registrar Candidate, Royal Melbourne Hospital

After graduating in 2023, Verity has progressed into specialist pharmacy training across neurology, stroke, epilepsy and neurosurgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, with an upcoming intensive care placement.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, she provides evidence based medication recommendations for patients with complex neurological conditions, helping optimise medicines use and improve patient outcomes.

Eunice | R&D Chemist, Ensign Laboratories

Eunice’s passion for cosmetics, skincare and formulation science led her to a career as an R&D Chemist at Ensign Laboratories. She develops sunscreen and personal care products and helps prepare formulations for large scale manufacturing, turning scientific knowl

Two MIPS researchers recognised in the 2026 CCeMMP Bench to Art Exhibition

Science and art often share the same foundation: curiosity, creativity and discovery.
Congratulations to Cailtin Owyong and Laura Humphrys from the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS), whose work was recognised in the 2026 Bench to Art Exhibition, presented by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Cryo-Electron Microscopy of Membrane Proteins (CCeMMP). CCeMMP Outreach

Led by Professor Patrick Sexton, CCeMMP brings together researchers from Monash University, the University of Melbourne, The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, the University of Wollongong, and industry partners to advance cryo-electron microscopy research and innovation. The annual Bench to Art exhibition showcases the artistic side of structural biology, featuring entries from researchers and students across the Centre and its wider scientific community.

Cailtin Owyong received the Judges’ Second Prize for Still Image and People’s Choice Third Prize for Still Image for Wasteland (2026, mixed media), while Laura Humphrys was awarded Equal Third Prize for Still Image for Bittersweet Morphology.

Their award-winning images demonstrate how scientific research can reveal beauty in unexpected places, transforming complex biological structures into works that engage audiences well beyond the laboratory.

We also extend our congratulations to the broader CCeMMP Bench to Art community, including all recognised entrants across the still and animation categories, for bringing structural biology to life through art.

What does 3 days at an international healthcare leadership summit look like? 🌍

Monash Pharmacy student Helena Madadi recently travelled to Bologna, Italy, as part of the Monash University delegation attending the 2026 Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME) – Transnational Educational Initiative (TEI) Future Leaders Summit.

Alongside a talented cohort of students from across the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (MNHS) Monash University MNHS , Helena joined emerging healthcare leaders from eight partner universities across three continents for three intensive days of learning, collaboration and cultural exchange.

Throughout the summit, participants tackled global health challenges, explored patient safety through medication reviews, and examined how emerging technologies are transforming healthcare practice and collaboration.

From workshops and team challenges to new connections and cultural experiences, these snapshots offer a glimpse into Helena’s experience representing Monash University on the global stage.

Thank you to Helena for sharing her journey with our community. We are proud of her contribution to the summit and acknowledge MNHS for fostering opportunities that enable Monash students to learn, connect and lead alongside future healthcare professionals from around the world.
