Go, Yannee go!!
Monash Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is proud to celebrate Yannee Liu, PhD candidate in the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety (CMUS), Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS), on winning the 2026 Monash University Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Final.

Selected from an outstanding field of graduate researchers from across Monash University’s global community, Yannee’s presentation, The Deathly Hallows of Medicines, earned her the opportunity to represent Monash at the Asia-Pacific 3MT Semi-Finals in September. Her success reflects both the quality of her research and her ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and impact.

This achievement highlights the excellence of graduate research across CMUS, MIPS and Monash Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Congratulations, Yannee, on this outstanding achievement. We are incredibly proud to see one of our researchers recognised at the University level and look forward to cheering her on at the next stage of the competition.

What sound does an HPLC instrument, Skincare bottle and NMR spectrometer make?

Did you know? 👀 These sounds are all connected through the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science (BPharmSci) at Monash, where students explore how medicines and consumer products are discovered, analysed, and developed.

High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is used to separate, identify, and quantify compounds, making it an essential tool in drug development and pharmaceutical research.

A skincare bottle may look simple, but every formulation relies on carefully selected ingredients that are tested and optimised to ensure quality, stability, and performance.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy helps scientists determine the structure of molecules, providing critical insights that support modern drug discovery and medicinal chemistry.

From analysing compounds to designing formulations and uncovering molecular structures, pharmaceutical science is shaping the products and medicines we use every day. Through the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science at Monash, students gain hands-on experience in the science behind medicines, cosmetics, and other consumer products.
