I am really excited to have been spending the last couple of months planning a big year ahead full of rich Professional Learning for our staff around practices and understandings in EAL, especially across our mainstream classrooms.
Attached you will find information around three Saturday morning sessions available and applicable to ALL classroom teachers.
Early Literacy (originally cancelled in 2021): Saturday, 26th February
Oral Language: Saturday, 26th March
The EAL Curriculum (Planning, Assessment and Reporting: Saturday, 7th May
Early in the year, I will also be sending information for a full 3-day professional development workshop for a comprehensive understanding of EAL teaching. I endeavour to ensure that ALL of our teachers are EAL Confident and EAL Competent. The dates for these will be Monday 9th May, 30th May and 18th July.
I will continue to be available for support in schools for staff coaching, professional development and to provide guidance to school leadership to ensure that processes are in place for effective EAL support school wide. As you plan your curriculum days, please get in touch with dates. We know that school wide exposure and delivery is important in the accountability and application of new practices.
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of the schools that I was able to work with this year, both face-to-face and online in the year that we used screens more than ever. I am really looking forward to spending more time on site and in person in the coming year.
