A massive shoutout to our amazing speakers - Lavannya Sivaguranathan (Acciona), Eamonn Pinnuck (Agnico Eagle) and Simon Georges (Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action)- for sharing their stories, career advice, and industry insights with all of us. The Surveying Task Force, together with the Institution of Surveyors Victoria (ISV) invite you to join us as we host this years International Women’s Day Breakfast on Friday 6 March 2026, celebrating women in surveying and our industry more broadly.

Being in the right room can change everything - learn and be inspired alongside incredible women leaders.

While we celebrate women and their impact on our industry, this event is open to everyone. We warmly welcome and encourage our male colleagues to attend, be part of the conversation, and stand alongside us in supporting inclusion and progress. 📍MUGS is thrilled to welcome alumni Bram Blakley as guest speaker for our 59th annual industry dinner✨

Bram Blakley is a GIS Manager at Acciona with eight years of experience in the AEC Industry, delivering geospatial solutions for major infrastructure projects across the rail and road sectors. Bram graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2016 with a Masters in Engineering (Spatial) and was also President of MUGS in his time at university. He now specialises in digitising workflows, automating data processes, and developing web applications that support data-driven decision making.

Bram has contributed to several high-profile initiatives, including the Metro Tunnel Project, Melbourne Airport Rail, North East Link, and the launch of Digital Twin Victoria. His work on these projects has reflected his commitment to using GIS and Spatial technologies not only as a technical tool, but as a driver of smarter, safer, more transparent infrastructure delivery.

Taylor’s is looking for a survey assistant

Here is a bit of an overview:

What we are looking for:



2nd or 3rd year Surveying / Geospatial / Geomatic / Spatial Science students.
Excellent communication skills
Learning mentality and willingness to learn
Punctual and hard working
Someone who is looking for a long term career who can ideally transition into a graduate once they finish their studies


The Team:



Infrastructure team comprises of our Engineering Design Survey, Construction Survey & Utilities teams. The candidates, depending on skill set and motivations, will get exposure across these teams.



Engineering Design Survey focus on large feature surveys for commercial and infrastructure projects. Including West Gate Tunnel, Level Crossing Removals, schools, hospitals, airports, dams, creeks, council work etc.. They also use innovative technology including MLS (mobile laser scanning), TLS (terrestrial laser scanning), hydrographic surveys, navvis surveys(back-pack mounted scanner) and more! We are at the forefront of innovative survey technologies and very much early adopters of technology and software.
Construction Survey focus on large construction and infrastructure projects that involve set out surveys, controls surveys and as-built surveys.
The Utilities team focus on underground and overhead utilities, underground service locating and asset recording.


Overall, the successful students will have a very broad exposure across the different teams and technologies and will build an excellent foundation for their careers.



The Role:



The role will be tailored around the succesful students availability depending on their study requirements and can be ramped up and down depending on timetable and our work load.
They will be always accompanying one of our experienced surveyors so will have full support to be shown how to do things and learn from our team members.

Giulia is a Geospatial Analyst at Geoscience Australia in the Minerals, Energy, and Groundwater Division. In her early career, Giulia worked as a Geospatial Consultant and gained diverse experience in the management, analysis, and visualisation of geospatial data on high-impact infrastructure projects across Australia. During this time, she developed a strong interest in automating GIS workflows and utilising geospatial methodologies to communicate complex data.
