RMIT UP’s latest student-devised theatre production, Alien, took over a packed Kaleide Theatre at RMIT University last week.

Led by Elizabeth Walley, RMIT UP’s Student Experience and Special Projects Manager, the production showcased the incredible creativity, confidence and talent of our international students.

As RMIT UP CEO Jake Heinrich put it: “You brought the Kaleide Theatre to life — albeit alien life!”

A huge congratulations to all the students and staff who made this special production possible! 👏

We're proud to share that all three of RMIT UP's nominations for the 2026 English Australia Awards have been named finalists - a fantastic achievement in what English Australia has described as an exceptionally competitive year.

Congratulations to our finalists:

- Paul Williams: Academic Leadership Award
- Rainbow Connect, represented by Dan Tiel: Innovation Award
- Sharene Herdy: John Gallagher Award for ELICOS Sector Contribution

This recognition celebrates the passion, leadership and innovation our staff bring to the English language education sector every day, and the positive impact they have on our students, colleagues and community.

Congratulations to our finalists, and best of luck at the English Australia Conference Gala Awards Dinner on 17 September.

This year, hundreds of future RMIT students across South-East Asia and China have had a taste of RMIT UP Foundation Studies – without leaving home!

Our Art, Design, Architecture and Business teachers recently ran interactive demo classes in Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and China, giving students and parents a real feel for RMIT-style learning: hands-on, creative and focused on practical, real-world skills.

From exploring the building blocks of art and design to unpacking what influences buyer behaviour, feedback from students, parents, teachers and agents has been overwhelmingly positive, with many saying the experience boosted their confidence in choosing RMIT UP.

A big thank you to our partners, participating schools, parents and amazing students that took part. We can’t wait to welcome many of you to RMIT UP in Melbourne soon!

What a spectacular way to kick off the Lunar New Year at RMIT UP!

Our students and staff enjoyed a thrilling lion dance performance and a special visit from Caishen, the God of Wealth – filling our campus with drumbeats, colour and excitement.

Huge thanks to the incredible dancers and musicians from the Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne for bringing so much energy, colour and joy to our campus.

To everyone in our community celebrating Lunar New Year and Tet – we wish you a happy and prosperous Year of the Horse!

Earlier this year, we welcomed our very first GuateFuturo-RMIT and HonduFuturo-RMIT scholarship students from Guatemala and Honduras—further building our strong partnerships across Latin America.

The Fundación Guatefuturo-RMIT and Fundación HonduFuturo-RMIT scholarships make it possible for talented students from Guatemala and Honduras to study a Master’s by Coursework or Research, or a PhD, here at RMIT University. Plus, in 2025, we’re excited to have had 11 Fundación Colfuturo-RMIT scholars from Colombia.

We recently chatted with Carlos Fuentes about his journey at RMIT UP and how the GuateFuturo-RMIT Scholarship supported him in improving his English, embracing new cultures, and pursuing his passion for using data analytics to drive business growth through the Master of Analytics (coursework) program.
