Meet Olivia and Maddy from Activate Allied Health ✨

My name is Olivia and I am a new grad speechie working in the private sector. I graduated in 2024 and was lucky to get a job with one of my placement providers, Activate Allied Health. My caseload is mixed working with stuttering, speech sounds, language, AAC, and social communication. I enjoy working in MDTs and collaborating with my speechie colleagues to support our clients.

My name is Maddy and I am a new graduate speech pathologist working in a multidisciplinary private practice with exercise physiologists and an occupational therapist. I graduated in 2024 and, like Olivia, accepted a job with Activate Allied Health following a placement at the clinic. I have a mixed caseload of private and NDIS clients across the lifespan, working with speech sounds, AAC, social communication and both developmental and acquired language. I also work with a highschool one day per week to provide assessments to students and make recommendations such as classroom and exam modifications, referrals to other professionals and access to additional supports that are available within the school.

The Careers Night is a chance for the graduating class of 2025 🎓 to hear from clinicians from a variety of health services and practice areas. It is an opportunity for students to receive tips about the job application process, what to look for in an employer, how to navigate a career in speech pathology, and what to expect as a new graduate clinician. Our guest speakers will provide short presentations about their backgrounds and experiences, followed by questions from the students. This will be followed by time for informal networking.

This is an in-person event and we recommend students attend face-to-face to make the most out of the session. This is a great opportunity to bring any questions you might have about starting your career as a speech pathologist and speak with our guest speakers, ranging form new grads to senior clinicians.
