Welcome to the official Queen's College page. This page is for current and future residents

Queen's College is a residential College affiliated with the University of Melbourne, Australia providing accommodation to 250 undergraduate and graduate students who are attending the University of Melbourne, Victorian College of the Arts, RMIT University and Monash University's Victorian College of Pharmacy. In addition to the students, the Queen's College (affectionately known simply as "Queen's") also houses a number of fellows, resident tutors, scholars and professionals (collectively known as the Senior Common Room), staff, and academic guests.

Our annual Willie Quick Dinner brings two things: a themed dress code and a speaker worth listening to. This year we went Great Gatsby, and we were fortunate to hear from David Lawrence, Wyvern (1982) and our 2020 Wyvern of the Year.

He shared his journey from his days as a student at Queen’s to starting his own corporate comedy business with a fellow Wyvern. David’s message was that a career doesn’t have to run in a straight line. From the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to writing the Fox Swift books with Cyril Rioli, his stories showed how many directions one path can take.

David had the room laughing one minute and reflecting the next, and Queeners left with plenty to think about.

It's been an incredible term for sport at Queen's, with our sixth team making it through to a finals match. This time it was our Women's Volleyball team, who met Ormond in a grand final that turned out to be much closer than we predicted.

With half our team new to volleyball, we think our, ahem, unconventional and unpredictable style of play kept Ormond a little off balance. The best-of-five match went all the way to a fifth set, and after 100 minutes of play, only minutes short of the 110-minute limit, Ormond won the decider 15-9.

Congratulations to both teams for giving us one of the most thrilling and entertaining matches of the year.

With nearly two dozen acts, Quadstock was packed with musical talent from Queeners this year. The line-up at our annual music festival ran the full spectrum - from current chart toppers to Eagles, Beatles and Dire Straits.

With a wildly supportive audience, the atmosphere was electric. Huge thanks to our production team and everyone who helped build it - Quadstock is a true community event and one of the highlights of the year.

Congratulations to the newly elected QCS&SC General Committee for 2027.

Led by Amy Sexton (President), she’s joined by Charlie Maple-Brown, Annie Hutchings, Grace Nicholls, Josh Ferguson, Mieke Clark, Mia Riseley, Oska Edwards, Remy Tanner, Jessamy Bennett and George Gregor.

Every generation of Queeners has benefited from students stepping up to lead their community, and this year's committee carries on that tradition.

Congratulations to our new GC! We're looking forward to seeing what they bring to the year ahead.

Our CareerReady dinner brought Arts into focus this semester, gathering over a dozen Wyverns and friends of the College with our students to trace the path from an arts degree to the careers they've built since.

A panel discussion anchored the evening, featuring Alana Poole (Sustainability Lead at ELK), Nicholas Spinks (Dean at Queen's, and a former litigation lawyer, teacher and Teach For Australia coach), and Christine Ellem (Lead of Jobs Academy Delivery at Future Women).

Chaired by Student Club President Sophie Mayes, the conversation took on the question every arts student has heard: so what are you going to do with that? The panel's answer pointed to the value of a winding career path, and the adaptability an arts degree builds along the way.

Our thanks to the Wyverns and friends of Queen's who gave their evening to help guide the next generation on the road ahead.
