Hobart College is a spacious campus set in bushland with views to Mount Wellington. The excellent facilities at Mt Nelson mean students are able to engage in a wide range of activities whilst on campus including an accessible gym with welcoming staff, a six hundred seat theatre, student lounge, campus radio station, a vibrant music and art department and comprehensive IT facilities. The college is well serviced by buses which provide transport to the city, Kingston and Southern regional areas. Hobart College is an inclusive environment which supports and nurtures all students. It is a multicultural campus, welcoming international and exchange students. As well as offering a full range of TCE subjects, students have the opportunity to enrol in Certificate Courses and the UTAS High Achiever Program. Teachers at Hobart College aim to ensure that all students reach their highest potential by providing programs which enrich and engage.

A talented writer and creator of the acclaimed SBS series The Tailings, Caitlin is now one of eight emerging screenwriters from across Australia pitching original projects to Netflix.

Set in 1920, the story follows the Dermott family. Uncle Dan, facing death, challenges his nieces and nephews to build successful careers, promising his inheritance to the most successful.

Shout out to Harry!

Congratulations to Business Studies 3 student, Harry Finlayson, who was shortlisted from entries across Tasmania for the Commonwealth Bank "Plan Your Own Enterprise" competition. The competition sees students develop a business plan which includes a marketing and finance section for a creative small business. Harry’s idea was for a small Tasmanian commercial freshwater eel fishing business.

Scott Roth visits HoCo 🏀🐜

Today, students heard from Tasmania JackJumpers Head Coach Scott Roth, who shared how discipline, humility and hard work have shaped his journey from elite basketball to championship success.

Reflecting on lessons taught by his father, Scott shared the story of spending a summer painting 90 fire hydrants as a teenager, learning the value of doing things the right way, leaving ego behind, and taking pride in your work.

His message was a powerful reminder that the effort you put in when no one is watching is often what makes the difference when it matters most.

Plus, we got to take some selfies with hero himself. Thanks Scott, for taking the time to share these valuable lessons with our community. Greatly appreciated!
