ONE class.
ONE conversation.
ONE assignment.
ONE step forward.

Even if you feel like you’ve fallen behind or feel like you've got too much ground to make up, don't count yourself out. Our staff are here to support you every step of the way.

Keep showing up. Every day matters. You’ve got this 👊

🚴‍♂️Shout out to Ned! 👏

A great article in the Kingborough Chronicle about HoCo student Ned Wise's fundraising journey in 2024, cycling 5,200 km with his father Phil, riding from southern Tasmania to Darwin over 83 days. As part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award, Ned helped raise almost $60,000 for the Tasmanian Land Conservancy.

So, what's next for Ned? He and his father, Phil, are planning to travel to Uganda to support charity work and contribute to a documentary highlighting conservation efforts and community projects.

Nice work Ned and Phil. What a duo!

Work in Progress - Mid Year Art Exhibition 🎨

From August 10 to August 14, HoCo's Art Studio Practice Vis Arts students held a "Work in Progress - out of the studio for 5 days" exhibition at the Sunroom Gallery, UTAS, Hunter St Campus. It was a chance for our community to view work from photography, painting, printmaking, collage and drawing ASP students, culminating in a final event on Friday 14 August. It was an outstanding exhibition of work, and if this is a glimpse of what's to come, November's end-of-year exhibition is set to be something special! Watch this space!

⛷️ News from Hotham ⛷️

The HoCo Ski trip is well underway as over 45 students plus staff hit Mount Hotham this week. Everyone has managed to get out onto the Summit, Big D and Road Runner Quads, with many students experiencing snowboarding and skiing for the first time. It’s been great to see them embracing new challenges and building confidence as the week has progressed.

(Now they just need a big dump before the weekend to experience some of those black runs🤞)

🏀 HoCo STATE basketball champions!

Over the weekend, 16 students proudly represented Hobart College at the College State Basketball Championships in Launceston.

Across two days, our Division 1 and Division 2 teams played a combined 9 games, showing plenty of determination, teamwork and school spirit.

Check out these results:

🏀 Division 2: 2 wins from 4 games (including an incredible victory where they finished the game with just four players on court - talk about resilience!)

🏀 Division 1: were nothing short of tenacious throughout the competition, battling their way through to the Grand Final, where they defeated Launceston College 62–42 to be crowned State Champions!
