Climate justice will not happen if we don't also have social justice, for all the Indigenous peoples of the world.

The 26th of January is a day not celebrated by all, as for the Indigenous peoples of Australia it marked the beginning of the dispossession of their lands, a constant onslaught of their culture by the English colonisers.

Australia is the only nation not to have a treaty for it's Indigenous peoples.

We should celebrate Australia as a nation, but not in a way that makes light of our dark history.

An Indigenous community leader says January 26 should be a day of commemoration instead of the celebration of the 'day darkness fell upon us'.

"Across two actions today FLAC members managed a mammoth 15 hours of disruption to Adani's coal terminal and the servicing Aurizon rail line. The impact of today's delays project the efforts of a movement that are committed to defending the Galilee Basin and demanding no new coal."

"All frontline activists involved in today's events have been arrested and removed from the sites. The actions have wrapped up - but this year is only beginning, and we continue to fulfill our resolution to bring an end to new coal projects."

BREAKING: Since 5:30am this moning Natalie Berry has disrupted Aurizons coal rail line. Suspended in a tree sit twenty metres above the ground this has haulted all trains headed to and from Adani's Abbot Point coal terminal.

This action has occured simultaneously with the shutting down of machinery loading coal onto ships for export. Four of the activists locked on at 10:30pm Thursday night.
