The participants of the Australia Awards Short Course on Accessing Climate Finance for Pakistan have successfully concluded their two-week trip to Australia with insightful presentations in Sydney and Canberra.

Highlights from the week included:

• Solar Share Community Energy Pty: A visit to the innovative facility near Canberra is Australia’s largest community-owned solar farm
• Australian Sustainable Finance Institute (ASFI): Ben Sakker Kelly
delivered a presentation outlining Australia’s emerging green taxonomy and providing updates from the Natural Capital Advisory Group (NCAG).
• Climate Energy Finance Sydney: Tim Buckley delivered a presentation on navigating strategic, financial, and geopolitical dynamics to accelerate South Asia’s net zero transition through regional collaboration, investment, and technology convergence.
• Climate Change Policy, Adaptation and Risk Division - National Adaptation Policy Office, Climate Resilience presentation.

This week, we’re excited to welcome 25 participants of the Australia Awards Indonesia Short Course Leveraging Technology and Data for Justice and Security Sector Reform, funded by the Australian Government to Brisbane.

After an exciting first week in Sydney and Canberra, participants will continue a full program of presentations, site visits, and workshops in Brisbane. These sessions will focus on addressing practical challenges such as data governance, institutional coordination, and ethical digital transformation, drawing on expertise from Griffith University and industry specialists in governance, criminology, and technology.

The course is led by Professor Alan Liew, Adjunct Professor The Honourable Paul Lucas, and Dr Hai Luong who have provided guidance for participants through meaningful discussions and collaborative learning.

We look forward to supporting the cohort as they continue their journey in Brisbane.

The first week of the Australia Awards Short Course on Accessing Climate Finance for Pakistan has seen participants attend many insightful presentations, site visits and workshops.

Highlights included:

• Policy Development Presentation: Former Deputy Premier of Queensland, Associate Professor The Honourable Paul Lucas discussed policy innovation and collaborative governance processes for climate finance.
• Energy Qld Visit: Participants travelled to Energy Qld for a presentation on state-owned electricity companies and net zero emissions strategies.
• Risk Management and Climate Resilience Presentation: Expert Donovan Burton explored capacity strengthening and risk mapping, climate-focused risk assessment techniques, integrating resilience and adaptation into projects, and key resilience frameworks.

Week 2 will see participants travel to Canberra, where they will meet with government departments and organisations in the capital.

A warm welcome to the participants of the Australia Awards Short Course on Accessing Climate Finance for Pakistan, who have arrived in Australia this week.

Over the next two weeks, this diverse and highly skilled cohort will work closely with course leaders Associate Professor Rob Hales, Professor Christoph Nedopil Wang and expert presenters as they delve into Climate Finance Fundamentals, International Agreements, Green Banking, and Sustainable Investing. Participants will engage with regional experts, strengthening their expertise and building practical knowledge to support climate finance initiatives in Pakistan.

We look forward to sharing highlights from their learning journey across Brisbane, Canberra, and Sydney.

Participants of the Australia Awards Short Course on ‘Training on Diplomacy and International Relations for Mongolia’ have successfully wrapped up the Australian component of their program.

Over the past eight days, participants gained a broad and practical introduction to diplomacy and international relations through presentations, workshops, scenario exercises, and site visits delivered across Canberra and Brisbane. Led by Dr Scott Blakemore, Adjunct Professor The Honourable Paul Lucas and Professor Ian Hall and delivered by Griffith University, the program exposed participants to a wide range of diplomatic skills, policy concepts, and regional issues in an applied learning environment. The program concluded with return to work project presentations, where participants demonstrated how they will apply the skills and knowledge gained to a workplace project upon their return home.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for their engagement and contributions throughout the program. We hope they return home with valuable insights to drive meaningful and lasting change in international relations and diplomacy in Mongolia.

Focused on building job-ready workforces for the 21st century and the 4th Industrial Revolution, this visit highlighted cutting-edge vocational education and training opportunities for employers, trainees, and industry.

Participants will spend week 2 engaging with national experts to deepen their knowledge and continue shaping inclusive, future-ready TVET systems in Brisbane and Canberra.

Griffith University is delighted to welcome participants in the Australia Awards Short Course on ‘Training on Diplomacy and International Relations for Mongolia’ for an immersive 8 day program in Australia this week, proudly supported by the Australian Government.

Participants were welcomed on day one by special guests including H.E. Davaasuren Damdinsuren, Ambassador of Mongolia to Australia; Katie Smith, Director of DFAT’s South Asia and Mongolia Section; Paul Grandoni, Assistant Director of DFAT’s South Asia and Mongolia Section; and Andrew Goledzinowski AM, former Australian Head of Mission.

Throughout their time in Australia, participants will travel to Canberra and Brisbane with course leaders Adjunct Professor, The Honourable Paul Lucas, Dr Scott Blakemore and Professor Ian Hall to participate in interactive simulation sessions and expert presentations, site visits, and thought-provoking case studies and workshop discussions led by senior academics, government leaders and public sector practitioners.

Griffith University welcomes participants of the Australia Awards Regional Short Course on Transforming TVET Policy for Inclusive and Future-Ready Skills Systems, bringing industry leaders from South Asia and Mongolia to Australia.

This cohort of 25 professionals from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will engage in an intensive two-week program, working closely with senior academics, government leaders, and practitioners from the TAFE sector, led by Professor Amie Shaw, Professor Susan Ressia, Professor Ruth McPhail and Professor Sarojni Choy.

The program will provide active learning through interactive sessions, policy briefings, site visits, and workshops, while allowing participants time for reflection and engagement. Expert facilitators will include senior academics, government leaders, and practitioners from the TAFE sector, encouraging participants to gain practical insights and apply them within their own contexts for systemic improvements.

Griffith University is delighted to welcome 39 MBA students to Brisbane this week for the third cohort of Global Horizons: Management Strategies for Navigating International Business, Sustainable Growth, and Cross-Cultural Enterprise, delivered in collaboration with Hong Kong Metropolitan University.

The one-week course led by Associate Professor Yong Wu and Associate Professor Carys Chan dynamic program blends expert-led sessions with immersive site visits. Participants will engage with key themes such as global business environments, best practice in sustainability reporting, the integration of social, environmental and ethical principles into organisational strategy, cross-cultural leadership, and the development of entrepreneurial thinking and innovation.
