Today a student alerted us to a Tawny frogmouth on the ground in a busy area of campus, so we went to investigate. It turned out to be a tiny baby! While a parent watched from a nearby tree, a group of Noisy Miners were swooping at the youngster. After carefully wrapping the little one and returning it safely to the tree, the parent moved to a nearby perch to keep watch. Moments like these remind us how special it is to share our campus with wildlife.

A surprise guest greeted us after the long weekend! This beautiful carpet python found its way into the classroom and made itself at home in the rafters. Judging by that impressive bulge, it looks like it had already enjoyed a midnight snack before settling in for a rest!

Do you feed wild birds?

Did you know bird feeders can help spread bird flu and other diseases between birds?

The good news? Birds won't go hungry if you stop feeding them.

"Our research found that even birds visiting feeders every day typically get less than 10% of their diet there. They are still finding most of their food naturally," says Professor Emeritus Darryl Jones ( University).

By letting birds forage naturally, you're helping keep wildlife healthy.
