"Our involvement in the Koori Knockout goes beyond having a presence at the event. It creates opportunities to connect with community, support important conversations and strengthen relationships that continue long after the final whistle," said Wiradjuri man and University of Newcastle Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Engagement and Equity, Nathan Towney.

The University of Newcastle and The Wollotuka Institute were proud to be community partners of the 2026 Koori Knockout, hosted at Raymond Terrace by The Newcastle Yowies.

Between speaking to attendees about their university options, and providing Physio support to players, our support of the event was far reaching!

The team will be at the Knockout all weekend. Come visit us in the wellbeing precinct, have a yarn about University and what study can do for you!

Don’t forget to go in the running to win one of two signed Knights jerseys, just in time for tomorrow’s game.

All the Knights jerseys in town are sold, but thanks to our friends at WW and PKF Newy we have two signed jerseys to give away at the Koori Knockout this weekend! The Jerseys are signed by Bradman Best, Dane Gagai, Jermaine McEwen, and Dylan Lucas.

Come see our Wollotuka team (Jack and Sheldyn) at the Wellbeing Precinct, scan the QR code, and register to win. Winners will be drawn Saturday afternoon, so keep your phones on you!

Last month, Wollotuka and University of Newcastle medical graduates attended the 2026 Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association (AIDA) Conference on Whadjuk Country.

Our 2025 graduates were recognised on stage and presented with their hand-painted AIDA stethoscopes, symbolising the history and future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medicine.

Congratulations to all our graduates, both recent and past. We are proud of the work you did throughout your studies, and now continue to do within our communities.

2025 Team of the Year ✨

Our Indigenous Nationals team have been recognised for the second year in a row at the NUsport Sport Sport Awards.

Thanks to a couple of gold and silver medals throughout the week, the team last year took out the overall Indigenous Nationals Championship over in Boorloo (Perth).

While this team showed the sporting prowess on the field, they shone just as brightly off. There was an instant connection between this crew that only grew during our week away, and we are beyond proud of how they consistently showed up for one another.

How special to have this award presented to David Parsons (student-athlete and UON alum) and Koan Cashman (Team Manager) by our very own, Aunty Mandy.

Congratulations team, well deserved ❤️💛🖤
