The Newcastle Art School specialises in studio-based fine arts training for professional artists. Based at TAFE NSW Hunter St, offering fully accredited courses, facilities and staff. The Newcastle Art School is located in a series of historically significant buildings and it has been Newcastle’s central art school since the late 19th century. Celebrating Creative Achievement 🌟🎉

This week, the Hunter TAFE Foundation was honoured to present the Carol Duval 2026 Memorial Award Scholarship to Paul Templeman.

Congratulations to Emma Nicholson, Louise Ostrowski and Rebecca Brissenden who were awarded highly commended for their works. 👏

Our sincere thanks to Paul Maher Art, a respected Newcastle artist, for serving as judge and for his time, attention, and thoughtful deliberation throughout the judging process. We also extend our gratitude to Carol Duval's family and friends for sharing reflections on her life, artistic journey, and enduring legacy.

Celebrating student success. 🌟🎉

Last week we were thrilled to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our students at the Reg Russom Memorial Award, where Bachelor of Creative Practice student Sol Nilssen shone bright, taking home the prestigious scholarship.

A huge round of applause also goes to Brydie Cussan, Paul Templeman, and Neve O’Malley, whose outstanding entries earned them a highly commended.
