Happy faces, enjoying a cuppa! ☕️☕️☕️

Our Coffee Club kicked off with a session at the Lion Hotel on Tuesday, 19th May. The mystery location was revealed the night prior at Formal Dinner, and the mystery guest was revealed at the meet up - it was Principal Wendy Fleming! Students stayed for about an hour and then followed it up with a study session at College run by student Sophie Wrightson.

The next Coffee Club catch up is being held at St Louis Cafe this Saturday morning after our annual cohort photo. We hope to see many smiling faces there!

We were so happy to host Willyama High School’s Year 11 students for a tour in early May! Thank you to Collegian Ryan Coulter for organising the introduction of St Ann’s to your students ☺️☺️

Our Year 11’s ended day 3 of their Careers Immersion with a tour of St Ann’s residential college with former Willyama students Conner Turley and Lenny Smith.

On Monday evening, we were delighted to welcome back Uncle John Lochowiak. A cherished guest of St Ann’s, his annual visit in the lead-up to National Reconciliation Week holds deep significance for our community, and we greatly value the cultural knowledge he shares with us.

This year, Uncle John spoke about the significance of Welcome To Country, likening it to the “welcome” greeting you would receive when you appear at any household. He reflected on the importance of the land, the power of community, and the strength of one’s spirit. While conducting his traditional smoking ceremony, Uncle John encouraged our students to bask in the smoke, believed to give you “an edge,” which he commented would be particularly useful with upcoming exams!

His kind nature and openness are always warmly appreciated by both students and staff.

We think it is safe to say that our Book Club highly rates their latest read, A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini!

Scroll through to read their reviews. Thank you Nadia, Chloe and Fern for sharing your thoughts and for leading our group📚🥰

Their next pick is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. We encourage students to pick it up and join them for the next Book Club session on 14th June!

Best of luck to St Ann's men's and women's AFL teams this Sunday, competing at SAAUCC Football! 🏉

At the conclusion of footy we will present the Chelsea Masclet Medal to honour the life, courage, leadership and legacy of Chelsea Racheal Masclet, an exceptional young woman and a deeply cherished member of the St Ann’s College community.

Chelsea was the St Ann’s College Club President and an outstanding leader, admired not only for her sporting brilliance and commitment – especially in swimming, basketball and AFL - but for her unwavering determination in the face of immense personal challenge.

In her final year of university, and while serving as St Ann’s College Club President, she underwent treatment for cancer, but still took her place on the football field, fighting hard to compete with great resilience, strength of character and skill, while battling the effects of chemotherapy. Even as her strength waned, Chelsea never gave up. In the final months of her life, she completed her degree and sat her exams from hospital, achieving graduation through sheer resolve, courage and dignity.

The medal is presented to a player who embodies the determination, skill, resilience and leadership as shown on the football field by Chelsea Masclet. 🎖🎖🎖

Each Monday, the College gathers in the main Dining Hall for its traditional candle-lit Formal Dinner. This weekly event has been a cornerstone of College life since St Ann’s was established in 1947.

On the 11th of May, St Ann’s College welcomed guest speaker Collegian Dr Kate Gunn.

Whilst a resident at St Ann’s (2005/2006), Kate studied a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) at The University of Adelaide. She then went on to do a Master of Clinical Psychology and PhD at Adelaide University, a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Flinders University and she now works as an Associate Professor/ Enterprise Fellow (Rural Health), leading a team who undertake rural health and mental health research at Adelaide University.

Kate is also the founder of ifarmwell.com.au - a practical online toolkit designed to help Australian farmers manage life’s challenges and enhance their wellbeing. Her work and innovation have been recognised with numerous awards.

In her address on Monday evening, Kate shared practical strategies for managing mental health, as well as simple conversation starters students can use if they notice a friend may need support. She reflected on the unique strength of St Ann’s, highlighting the importance of its close-knit community and encouraging students to value the strong sense of connection and support it provides.

Well done and thank you to our Health and Wellbeing Liaisons Heath and Flynn for organising St Ann's College's first outdoor cinema evening (in recent memory, maybe ever!).

Many students turned out to watch a film under our stunning aged gum tree in our beautiful rose garden.

It was a memorable hang, and we hope we can organise another one in spring!

The St Ann’s College Foundation was delighted to welcome dear friends and supporters to our annual Friends Luncheon.

Guests enjoyed a wonderful meal and were captivated by guest speaker Collegian Mary Lou Simpson, who shared insights into the Flinders Ranges Ediacara Foundation’s role in supporting Australia’s UNESCO World Heritage bid for parts of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a special afternoon. Thank you also to our staff, student waitstaff, student photographer and kitchen team for all of your efforts to bring the lunch together!
