ACU North Sydney Speech Pathology Society The North Sydney Speech Pathology Society aims to represent the speech pathology students at ACU North Sydney.

This society aims to create a sense of community and raise awareness of the field of speech pathology. It also seeks to develop networking relationships within speech pathology and allow students to participate in opportunities for professional development. Students can also socialise and engage with others through events such as stalls, cruises, balls, trivia nights and online webinars with guest speakers.

Imagine not being able to read your train timetable to get to uni, understand what your lecturers are saying or ask questions about your upcoming exams 🤯

This is the reality of someone living with Aphasia and June is Aphasia Awareness Month!

🧠 Aphasia is a condition that impairs a persons ability to communicate. It can affect reading, writing and ability to understand language.

🧠 Aphasia is caused by stroke or damage to other language centres of the brain

🧠 Aphasia DOES not impact intellect

🧠 There are over 14 000 people in Australia living with aphasia

Awareness and education of aphasia is important as not many people know about Aphasia- sound smart at your next gatho and use your speechie skills to educate others about Aphasia (using evidence based research of course 😉)
