A Microbat skull From the comparative anatomy collection of the Harry Brookes Allen Museum of Anatomy and Pathology
The skull was collected by Frederic Wood Jones at Kingoonya Well, South Australia in 1921 or 1923. Wood Jones has described the specimen as a ‘short eared species’ of bat.

This is a focus stack composite image made up 26 individual photographs. This techniques allows you to extend the depth of field, and avoid lens aberrations resulting from the small apertures used at higher magnification.

You can explore more at the HBA museum's newly updated website here.
