Have you ever wondered how video games and board games are made? Curtin Game Dev is a diverse club for everyone who loves making games of all kinds. Our club is open to students from a wide variety of disciplines and skill levels. Whether your background is in programming, illustration, concept art, 3D design, animation, music or if you simply enjoy playing games, you are more than welcome to join

in and have fun! Our club offers regular events centred around introductions to game development tools, playtesting games made by club members, and Game Jams. We also provide opportunities for casual meetups, game feedback and discussion via Discord, and inter-club collaboration events - ranging from casual Game Nights to competitive gaming tournaments. Get ready for our most important event of the year!

Join us next week for our Annual General Meeting + Final Meetup of 2024!

The Annual General Meeting, or AGM, is our most important event of the year - come along and hear about all the wonderful things that the club has achieved throughout 2024, and vote for the incoming 2025 Committee! In order for the meeting to be valid, we will need to meet quorum - meaning that at least 10 officially registered, currently-enrolled Curtin students must be in attendance.

We will also be providing FREE FOOD courtesy of Kirribilli Catering, including:
* Sushi
* Wraps
* Sandwiches
* Curry Puffs
* Satay Chicken Skewers
* Cinnamon Donuts

ICYMI: Weekly Club Meetups are BACK, join us on Thursdays from 10am until 12pm at Guild Club HQ!

Starting at our Week 1 meetup (this week!), we will be running our first ever MicroJames Game Jam, where participants have a week to make their very own 'microgame'. Then, at our Week 2 meetup, we will get to play the microgames and enjoy some yummy food provided by Kirribilli Catering!

Our Weekly Club Meetups provide a great way for you to meet other game devs, get feedback on your game projects, and play some great games. We can't wait for you all to join us!

Pitch Jam 2024 is a 24 hour competition where participants are given a short text prompt, and must come up with an AWESOME GAME CONCEPT and present it at the end!

Pitch Jam 2024 starts on Saturday June 15th at 12:00pm midday in Room 122, Building 202! Staying overnight is optional, so you are welcome to bring a sleeping bag if you would like - we will also be providing beanbags too.

Join us for the Pitch Jam, a thrilling competition where teams will craft game pitches in just 24 hours! Attendees have the option to either form their own teams before the event or be assigned to a team on the day. Entrants will receive a prompt and must devise a game concept tailored to it. Get creative with moodboards, concept art, whitebox levels, storyboards, and rough illustrations—all are encouraged!

The Split-Screen Workshop is TOMORROW!

Join and to learn about how storytelling is used in video games, and start creating your very own Game Design Document!

Learn about the importance of narrative design for interactive media, and how to compile your concepts together into your very own Game Design Document.

It is a 2-3 hour code workshop on campus! This is Part 2 of the Unreal Engine Beginners Series. For those who missed out on Part 1, no worries as I will have a ready to go project file to hand out. 💻 On top of that, I am aiming for this Game Dev Workshop to also incorporate other game devs who want to come for the social sharing aspect 💬 and are not necessarily working in Unreal Engine! We are planning 3 interaction points at the beginning, middle and end where everyone shares what they are up to!
