You're invited to the Fact or Fiction Portrait Prize art exhibition opening night.

This long-standing competition invites visual arts and illustration students from all year levels and campuses to showcase their talent through portraits of well-known characters, be they real or fictional, using any artistic medium.

A panel of industry experts will select the top 25 entries, which will feature in an exhibition at A-Space Gallery at Preston campus.

Congratulations to Melbourne Polytechnic students Sarah Hunn-Mozes and Ying Soon on being named finalists in the Victorian Training Awards 2026.

Sarah is a finalist for Apprentice of the Year studying
Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade MEM31925 (Boilermaking/Welding), while Ying is a finalist for Vocational Student of the Year studying the Diploma of Auslan PSP51018.

We wish them the very best at the awards gala in September and congratulate all finalists from all training providers on this outstanding achievement.

Congratulations to Melbourne Polytechnic patisserie graduates Tomo Nakayama and Kevin Agopian on taking out the Gold Overall prize and prestigious Golden Whisk award at the 2026 Victorian TAFE Patisserie Trainee Challenge recently.

Competing against some of Victoria’s leading training providers, Tomo and Kevin showcased exceptional skill, creativity and professionalism to earn the competition’s highest honour. A special thank you to educator Maria Goncalves for her guidance and support in helping prepare them for success.

Join us for the launch of the Uncle Jack Charles Place of Belonging and Artworks at Melbourne Polytechnic's Collingwood Campus on Friday 31 July.

This special event honours the legacy of Uncle Jack Charles (Boon Wurrung, Dja Dja Wurrung, Yorta Yorta, Woiwurrung and Taungurung), with stunning artworks created by glass artists Nadine Keegan and Rickie Gugumah Martin (Yorta Yorta and Pairrebeenne/Trawlwoolway).

Come together to celebrate culture, community, creativity and belonging with the Melbourne Polytechnic community.

Discover the creativity, experimentation and artistic growth of students from the Advanced Diploma of Creative Product Development CUA60425.

The Midway Show is an annual exhibition featuring a diverse range of materials, subject matter, techniques and styles, the exhibition offers insight into each artist's unique creative process and the exciting projects developed throughout Semester One.

As a largely self-directed course, students are encouraged to explore and refine their individual practice. The works on display highlight the progress made so far and offer a glimpse into the more developed concepts and outcomes still to come.
