Every animal has a story, but not every animal has a voice.

That's why animal law matters. Animal protection depends on people who are equipped with the knowledge to shape, interpret and improve the law.

Conceived by Professor Nick James in collaboration with Dr Meg Good and Professor Rajesh K. Reddy, Animalex is the world's first global animal law educational resource library and networking hub.

Developed through a partnership between Bond University's Centre for Professional Legal Education and the Center for Animal Law Studies at Lewis & Clark Law School (USA), with support from Voiceless, the animal protection institute, Animalex provides free access to resources, scholarship and teaching materials for anyone interested in animal law.

Because the future of animal protection depends on educating the people who will shape, interpret and advocate for the law.

Mollie Tucker, Kiera Eljed and Noah Ellis delivered an outstanding performance at this year's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Moot Competition, securing Best Oralist, Best Written Submissions and runners-up finish in the Grand Final.

The team delivered an exceptional performance before an eminent bench comprising President Mullins, Chief Justice Bowskill and Justice Crowley.

The moot centred on an appeal and cross-appeal involving complex contract and tort law issues, including alleged misleading and deceptive conduct in advertising and a negligence claim arising from a rock-climbing training accident.

Best Oralist Mollie Tucker said the moot had been the highlight of her time at Bond.

"It provided an incredible opportunity to work as part of a team, develop sophisticated legal arguments, and present them before some of Queensland's most respected judges. Having to think critically under pressure and respond to challenging questions was such a valuable experience."

What is Gen Z's take on Brisbane 32?

We recently hosted a session bringing young people together to explore how their generation can play a meaningful role in the lead-up to, during and beyond Brisbane 2032.

Throughout the workshop, young people aged 16–24 from across the Gold Coast explored what motivates their generation, shared their perspectives and developed ideas for initiatives and opportunities that could help young people connect with the Games.

Coordinated by the City of Gold Coast, the workshop was delivered in partnership with Bond University, Griffith University, TAFE Queensland and Southern Cross University.

A fantastic opportunity to put young voices at the centre of the conversation and help shape a Brisbane 2032 legacy that extends well beyond the Games.

Congratulations to Sam Tracy, recipient of the Queensland Law Society's Access to Justice Award.

As Practice Director at Basic Rights Queensland, Sam has dedicated his career to advancing human rights, combating discrimination, and improving access to justice for vulnerable members of the community. In 2025, with pro bono partners Hall & Wilcox, the Discrimination and Human Rights team Sam leads at Basic Rights Queensland achieved important judicial review success in the Supreme Court of Queensland that reinforced local council obligations to the human rights of the homeless.

We are proud to support the Queensland Law Society Excellence in Law Awards and to celebrate legal professionals whose work creates meaningful impact in our communities.
