📢 PROJECT OPPORTUNITY FOR RANGELAND PASTORALISTS 🌱

This Smart Grazing, Stronger Lands project (delivered by the SA Arid Lands Landscape Board) is here to help producers turn good ideas into on-ground action. Over two years, this project will support rangelands pastoralists to implement grazing management tools on their properties – with personalised mentoring.

This project is for people who:
>> Have been trialling a free version of a kit tool and are ready to set it up properly
>> Have been thinking about taking the leap on an Optiweigh
>> Are curious about remote water monitoring, virtual fencing, or pasture biomass tools but want a hand getting started.

There’s two ways to get involved:
1) Mentoring sites with 1:1 training and ongoing access to experts
2) Demonstration sites with up to $35,000 for tool/tech setup and on-ground works

Looking for an opportunity to contribute to applied sheep production research in South Australia?

Adelaide University is currently recruiting a Grant-Funded Research Associate - Sheep Production Research & Data Analysis, based at the Roseworthy campus.

This part-time role will support a national research project focused on improving the reproductive performance of shedding sheep, working alongside researchers and industry partners across Australia 🐑

The position involves a mix of fieldwork, data collection and analysis, report writing, and supporting extension activities; ideal for someone with experience or interest in sheep production systems, agricultural research, and data analysis.

Water security is a growing priority for producers across the Barossa Ranges and the Barossa Improved Grazing Group lined catchment demonstration is showing what practical, long-term solutions can look like on-farm.

Construction at the Flaxman Valley demonstration site is nearing completion, and the SA Drought Hub is supporting extension and promotion activities to help translate the demonstration into practical insights for producers.

Build confidence in soil data collection and interpretation with SSA’s Soil Management Field Training 🌱

The training will be held on 12–13 May in Lobethal as part of Soil Science Australia’s (SSA) Soil Management Training course. It equips practitioners with the skills to confidently collect, analyse and interpret soil data- designed for those who advise landholders, including agronomists, farm advisors, agricultural consultants and extension officers, as well as policy professionals working with soils.

Participants must have completed Modules 1 - 4 prior to registering.
