Mite Monitoring – casual position available
Hop Products Australia (HPA), Bushy Park Estates
We are looking for a casual employee to join us for mite monitoring in our hop fields for around 8 weeks, commencing in early December.
HPA are the largest grower of hops in the southern hemisphere, and we supply hops to brewers all over Australia and around the world.
The position is at our Bushy Park Estates hop farm, 15 mins drive past New Norfolk.
Mite and predator monitoring results are used by management to decide when to spray miticides and which product to spray, as a component of the Integrated Pest Management program.
The role is ideal for someone with some knowledge of or interest in botany, pests and diseases or who is completing a science or ag science degree and looking for some relevant work experience.
On the job training will be provided.
The role will require you to:
· Walk through the hop fields collecting leaf samples
· Analyse leaf samples for mites and predators
· Record results according to our established procedures.
About You:
· You will need to be physically fit enough to enable you to spend most of the day outside on your feet and walking over uneven ground.
· Capable of safely performing manual handling tasks including some lifting.
· You will have an eye for detail.
· Be able to listen and follow instructions and safety procedures.
· You will be required to work under limited supervision at times.
Wages:
Casual hourly rate is paid at Level 1 ($26.73 per hour) of the Horticulture Award 2020. Approximately 40 hours per week.
Working hours will be approximately 7pm – 4.30pm.
