Bangladesh Students' Association, University of Tasmania The Bangladesh Students' Association UTAS (BSA UTAS) is a student-run organization at the University of Tasmania in Australia.

We bring people together through events, support new students, celebrate our culture, and build a strong, friendly community where everyone feels welcome and connected.✨ As the name suggests, the association primarily caters to students from Bangladesh who are studying at UTAS, but it also welcomes students from other countries who are

interested in Bangladeshi culture and traditions. BSA UTAS aims to provide a supportive community for its members, promote Bangladeshi culture and heritage, and facilitate social and educational events. Through its activities and events, the association seeks to foster a sense of belonging and create opportunities for personal and academic growth for Bangladeshi students studying at UTAS.

📢 COMMUNITY AWARENESS: GLENORCHY RESIDENTS, ENROL TO VOTE! 🗳️

Did you know that you may be eligible to vote in Tasmania’s Local Government Elections even if you are not an Australian citizen?

The Bangladesh Students’ Association UTAS (BSA UTAS) encourages eligible community members, including international students, permanent residents and temporary residents, to check their eligibility and make their voices heard.

You may be eligible for the General Manager’s Roll if you:

✅ Are aged 18 or over
✅ Live in the Glenorchy City Council area but cannot enrol on the State Electoral Roll
✅ Own or occupy eligible property or business premises within the council area

📍 This includes Glenorchy, Moonah, West Moonah, Claremont, Austins Ferry, Berriedale, Chigwell, Montrose, Rosetta, Goodwood, Derwent Park, Lutana, Dowsing Point, Prince of Wales Bay, Granton, Otago, Collinsvale and Glenlusk.

On this auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, the Bangladesh Students’ Association UTAS (BSA UTAS) extends our warmest wishes to everyone celebrating, especially our Hindu members, friends, families and the wider Hindu community.

✨We are glad and honoured to see the message from The Hon Dr Anne Aly MP, Minister for Multicultural Affairs, recognising Krishna Janmashtami and the enduring strength of Australians of Hindu faith. Her message reflects the important values at the heart of Lord Krishna’s teachings - compassion, duty, wisdom and service to others.

🗳️ BSA UTAS Proudly Supports Jhumu for Equity President 🇧🇩

We are proud to support Jhumu, a fellow Bangladeshi student, who is running to be the next TUSA Equity President.

Jhumu has been actively involved in campus and community initiatives, and we have seen her commitment to supporting students and helping create a university community where everyone feels heard, respected, supported and included.

As Equity President, she wants to advocate for better student welfare, equal opportunities and a fair and inclusive university environment for students from all backgrounds and communities.

It makes us proud to see another member of our Bangladeshi student community 🇧🇩 stepping forward to take on a leadership role and represent the interests of every student at UTAS.

🗳️ BSA UTAS Proudly Supports Sinan for Southern Campus President 🇧🇩

As the Bangladesh Students’ Association at the University of Tasmania, we are proud to support Sinan, a fellow Bangladeshi student, for Southern Campus President in the TUSA Elections.

We have seen his commitment to students, his willingness to listen and his passion for making student voices heard.

Students across the Southern campuses face real challenges, including rising living costs, accommodation and housing pressures, parking, food insecurity and campus safety. We believe students deserve someone who will listen, represent their concerns and work for positive change.

We are pleased to share that our current General Secretary, Sharzil Kabir, is running for Education President – Undergraduate and NUS Delegate in the TUSA Elections 2026.

It is always great to see members of our Bangladeshi student community stepping forward, taking leadership and seeking to represent students at a broader level within the University.

What a wonderful day at FEASTIVAL 26 – Food Festival! ❤️

BSA UTAS was proud to power this event alongside the Royal Bengal Club Tasmania Inc.- RBCT , bringing together students, families and the wider Tasmanian community for a day full of food, culture, friendship and connection.

A very special thank you to Tasmanian University Student Association - TUSA for their continued support, guidance and assistance to BSA UTAS. Your support helps us create more opportunities for students to connect, participate and engage with the wider community. ❤️

We sincerely thank Kingborough Community Hub for their generous venue support and for helping us make this event possible.

🇧🇩🤝🇳🇵 BSA UTAS STANDS WITH NEPAL

The Bangladesh Students’ Association – University of Tasmania (BSA UTAS) stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal during this heartbreaking time.

Our thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones, those who have been displaced, and everyone whose lives and communities have been affected by the devastating floods.

To our Nepali friends, students, families and the wider Nepali community in Tasmania and around the world — our hearts are with you. During times of tragedy, nationality and borders should never divide us. We stand together as one community, with compassion, friendship and humanity.

We also recognise the emergency responders, volunteers and community members working tirelessly to help people affected by this disaster.

🙏 PLEASE KEEP NEPAL IN YOUR PRAYERS 🇳🇵

We sincerely ask everyone in our BSA UTAS family and wider community to pray to God for Nepal - for the souls of those who have lost their lives, for strength and comfort for their families, for the safety of those affected, and for the recovery of communities facing this tragedy.

May God protect the people of Nepal, give strength to those who are suffering, comfort every grieving family, and bring safety, healing and hope to the country. 🙏❤️
