John Fisher College

John Fisher College John Fisher is an accommodation college located in Sandy Bay, Tasmania on the UTAS campus. Established in 1963, it was named after St John Fisher.

John Fisher College is a residential college situated at the University of Tasmania.It was established in 1963 and built by the Catholic Church and its community. The college was named after 16th century scholar St John Fisher and provides accommodation for around 100 students. It is located in Sandy Bay, Tasmania, Australia, on campus at the University of Tasmania. It is currently the smallest of

the three residential colleges at the University of Tasmania (Christ College and Jane Franklin Hall being the other two). After Fifty years of life, the college has completed an extensive renovation period, that has equipped it with state-of-the-art facilities, from the residents' rooms, to a new dining room (shared with Christ College), to I.T. facilities and bathrooms. This new lease on life has left Fisher a modern, and much desired place to stay for university students studying away from home. The John Fisher College Student Club provides representation for the members of the college. In March 2009 the Vice Chancellor officially opened "Pepperz" restaurant and cafe bar, the new catering system at the college. College Colours are royal blue and white, and the playing uniform for sports is the traditional striped rugby top with the 'Vatican V' logo. The 'hellfish' is a symbol held dear to the hearts of Fishermen and Fisherwomen. Whilst being the smallest of the three residential colleges in Hobart, John Fisher College's presence can still be felt on the sporting fields. Sports played include Rugby, Australian Rules Football, Soccer, Netball, Softball, Cricket, Tennis, Basketball, Table Tennis, Debating and Volleyball. On Sunday, our Fisher girls teamed up with to take on Jane — and came away with an incredible 55-1 win, keeping the back to back (b2b) streak going for the third year in a row!!

Such an amazing game from all the girls, everyone played so well and brought the energy all morning.

On Friday night, we hosted our Room 2 Room college crawl!

Residents transformed their rooms into different themed spaces, each with its own vibe, music, and drinks provided by the host. From chill lounges and children’s birthday parties to frat parties, discos, and full rave setups, every room brought something different to the night.

Today, some of our residents headed out to the beautiful Gellibrand Point Nature Recreation Area for the Opossum Bay – Arms End Walk 🌊🥾

With amazing coastal views, fresh air, and great company, it was the perfect way to spend the day and take a break from uni life for a little while.
