🤝 Building Connections Through Transnational Education

Alana Kaye College (AKC) welcomed MMS Development Training Center Corporation to the AKC office for a discussion on potential collaboration through Transnational Education (TNE).

The meeting brought together Arvin Alcantara, AKC Country Manager for the Philippines, and Beverly Labiste, Filipino Labiste, and Merlina L. Gardinab, President of MMS Development Training Center Corporation.

The discussion focused on how AKC’s Australian qualifications and TNE programs could complement MMS’s training initiatives while creating more accessible opportunities for skills development, professional growth, and internationally recognised education for Filipino learners.

We appreciate the visit from MMS Development Training Center Corporation and look forward to continuing discussions on potential areas of collaboration.

🎉 Celebrating Regional Connections at Cross Border Fest 2026

Alana Kaye College was invited by Mr. W***y, Regent of Belu, to attend the Opening Ceremony of Cross Border Fest 2026.

The event brought together communities and stakeholders from the border region, celebrating cultural connection, regional cooperation, and opportunities for stronger engagement between Indonesia and Timor-Leste.

AKC appreciated the invitation and the opportunity to be part of an event that highlights the importance of cross-border relationships and community development.

🇹🇱 Strengthening Vocational Education Connections in Timor-Leste

Alana Kaye College representatives David Thomson, International Operations Manager, and Edward Angstrong, Country Manager for Indonesia, met with Mr. Domingos Tilman, Advisor to the President of Timor-Leste, to discuss Timor-Leste’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector and opportunities for skills development.

The discussion explored potential areas for collaboration in Building and Construction, Leadership and Management, and Healthcare, with a focus on how Australian vocational education and training could support local workforce development.

The meeting also opened discussions around potential collaboration with UNTL, creating further opportunities to connect education, industry skills, and internationally recognised training.

AKC values engagements that support stronger vocational education pathways and contribute to workforce development in Timor-Leste.

🎓 Bringing Transnational Education to Filipino Learners

Alana Kaye College (AKC), in collaboration with Asia-Pacific Caregiver and Healthcare Training Center (APC&HTC), conducted a webinar on Transnational Education (TNE) to introduce participants to Australian qualifications and learning opportunities that can be accessed from the Philippines.

Representing AKC were David Thomson, International Operations Manager; Arvin Alcantara, Country Manager for the Philippines; and John Laurence Platilla, Marketing Officer, together with Maria Zarina Matorre and Nicole Bermas from APC&HTC.

The session highlighted how TNE can support skills development, professional growth, and future career pathways, while giving learners a clearer understanding of how Australian education can be accessed through flexible and locally supported learning options.

We thank APC&HTC and all participants for being part of the session and for contributing to an engaging and meaningful discussion on education beyond borders.

🤝 A New Milestone for AKC and Don Bosco Timor-Leste

Alana Kaye College met with the Don Bosco Timor-Leste team to discuss the next steps for collaboration and formalise the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The discussion brought together David Thomson, AKC International Operations Manager, and Edward Angstrong, Country Manager for Indonesia, together with the Don Bosco Timor-Leste team.

The MOU was formally signed by Brother Adriano, Director of Don Bosco Timor-Leste, and David Thomson, marking an important step in strengthening cooperation between both organisations.

The agreement reflects a shared commitment to creating more opportunities in education, skills development, and training, while supporting pathways that can benefit learners and communities in Timor-Leste.

AKC looks forward to building on this partnership through future Transnational Education initiatives.

🛠️ Hands-On Skills Training in Dili

Alana Kaye College visited the Don Bosco Comoro Compound in Dili, where the team had the opportunity to observe students undertaking practical training across a wide range of vocational areas.

The training centres provide hands-on learning in bricklaying, carpentry, building construction, welding, automotive, electrical, water filtration, renewable energy, furniture making, agrotechnology, and information technology.

Seeing students actively engaged in their classes highlighted the strong focus on practical, industry-relevant skills and the important role vocational education plays in preparing learners for future employment opportunities.

The visit also provided valuable insight into Don Bosco’s training facilities and approach to skills development, while opening further opportunities for educational collaboration in Timor-Leste.

Alana Kaye College visited the Don Bosco School and Training Center in Baucau, gaining a closer look at the wider Don Bosco Complex, which includes schools, training centers, dormitories, agricultural land, and a water dam.

The visit provided an opportunity to better understand the facilities, learning environment, and practical training resources available within the complex.

Engagements like this help strengthen connections with local education and training providers while exploring opportunities that can support skills development, practical learning, and future collaboration.

AKC appreciates the opportunity to visit the Don Bosco Complex and learn more about its contribution to education, training, and community development in Timor-Leste.
