On 17 November at COP30, Prof. Brendan Mackey spoke at the event Learning, Reflection and Empowerment for Climate Action at the Italian Pavilion in Belém, Brazil.

The session brought together inspiring speakers to share experiences and best practices for building stronger climate leadership through education, collaboration and youth engagement.

Griffith University co-organised a major side event at COP30 in Belém with the Armenian Government (COP17 Presidency), Colombia, Germany, Mongolia and global partners.

The event focused on strengthening climate–biodiversity action and policy coherence across the Rio Conventions.
Griffith’s role was led by Professor Brendan Mackey, Director of the Climate Action Beacon, who contributed scientific insights to the international discussion.

🎉 Exciting news! Evelyn Liew, Anjalee Panditha, and Sebastian Bernal Garcia from CABDTP are finalists in the National Disaster Challenge 2025 by Natural Hazards Research Australia.
Their collaboration, inspired by the Climate Action Doctoral Training Program, is tackling real-world disaster resilience.
